well i have been using lavender baby shampoo on mickey as well as my rottie and black lab. it rinses out well and the smell mmmmm very good! the scent actually last about 4-5 days. |
I have yet to find a great shampoo for Hallie, she has such cottony hair but I just found a great product for her dry belly. She was really flaky and itchy and her groomer gave me a bottle of EQYSS conditioning spray and it worked after 2 applications! And it smells fantastic! I saw it in the PetEdge catalog too :) Always up for a bargain I am! |
morning V! I love lavender also...plus it is SUPPOSED to be calming....I haven't noticed Sadie calming down lol! She is a maniac after her bath..joking aside...I do like it and because she is only 5 lbs it has lasted almost 2 years!!! I bathe her at least once every 3 weeks. It is very concentrated so I don't need to use much...as I said Sadie doesn't have that long thick coat... Have a great day! |
When you order the Plush Puppy products get her to tell you how to use them. You can dilute the seabreeze oil in water and pour it on (a little goes a long way). I like their products. |
four paws magic coat. I keep some around for the face wash. (Puppy type) Durstede. I really liked this and it did a very good job but i couldn't find it very easliy Pet Silk. still using this i love it and still using it. Bless The Beast. truely loved this product. it dried out Buckeye's hair and made it brittle. I have since decided that i was not diluting it enough. this is the best i have tried so far for matting and smell. he keeps the "pretty smell" for days. and also have found that when i use this shampoo i can go longer between baths. I have tried sending an e-mail to the company twice asking what can be the problem with the dryness with no response. Coat Handler. I think I will always keep this around too. I love this one also. It says no brushing needed before bath and it means it. of course mine are always brushed. yeah right! Vellus. I liked this shampoo but it made Ahia and Buckeye both itch. so I didn't even use all of the sample bottle. Chris Christiansen. I like this product also. Mane and Tail. this is a good shampoo to keep on hand when I don't have any of the nicer smelling ones. It is cheaper and does a pretty good job. Ahia has a silkier type hair. My favorite to use on her so far is- 1. Coat Handler 2. CC Buckeye has the cottony type. my favorite to use on him so far is - 1. bless the beast, which i am out of and have been for some time now. 2. Coat Handler. Tressie and Archie still have the puppy coats and the CC products looked heavy on them. greasy. might be I didn't dilute it enough for them. I have found that , just as human hair, you need to use different products from time to time. WOW, did I get too long winded or what? :shocked7q |
LDenise...THANK you !! That was a great review...I looked at the Durstede products a long time ago ...also the Bless the Beast.... and that was good to know....I've always wondered about them.... Thanks for sharing what's worked for which coat....I have 2 girls with different type coats and what works great for one doesn't work as well for the other....You've tried ALOT of products haven't you ?...IF I could afford it ..I would too... :) |
Thanks!! Quote:

I use Bo Derek's - Bless the Beasts. - Nourising Dog Shampoo - Replenishing Conditioner - Fur Polish Pomade Both of my dogs have different coats, one has a cpost that used to get mats really bad and the other was silky with brittle ends. These products smell great and they all have the same scent which I like. I don't have to blow dry them and no matting in between baths !!!! It last a long time also, it is very concentrated. I have tried the CC System, which was good, but Bless the Beast works best for by furkids ! |

So I am sometimes confused about Twinkie's hair type as I swear some days it seems cottony & other days silky, but I'm gonna say more on the cottony side. Pet Silk - I have used the Moisturizing Silk Shampoo & Moisturizing Silk Rinse & I love it. I have also used the Strengthening Silk Rinse Treatment & I like it too, although I don't notice the difference between this & the Moisturizing Rinse - I just alternate between the 2. I have also used the Leave in Conditioner - it's ok, feels nice when sprayed in wet hair after bath & then blow dried, but after several applications over the week her hair feels very dirty & coated in the stuff. Lastly, I've used the Detangling Mist..... well I can't say it really detangled....more like made her hair feel really gross. Fresh n Clean No Tangle Spray - I used this when Twinkie gets matts & it works wonders. I bought this at petsmart so I think it was cheap. Chris Christensen - I just recently bought this and I LOVE it! Twinkie's coat has never looks so good. Her hair can get dry sometimes & this really moisturizes - I can see why some people think their dogs coat looks greasy, but works great for Twinkie. Also, I thought I would mention that I bought one of their brushes & I LOVE IT!! I can't believe the crap I was using before, I will never go back to cheap petsmart brushes again!!! That's all I've tried so far, I wish I could try a little of everything, but I guess I will stick with what I got. |
Ice on Ice How much of this product does one put on the dog? Do you just spray a light coating and comb it in or do you spray more on like on the undercoat too? I'm talking here about putting it on dry hair. What about if it is used on wet hair? thanks, omega |
Good Lord, Villette! You've tried EVERYTHING out there! :D I'm currently using the Chris Christensen Day to Day Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner. I also have the Ice on Ice conditioning/finishing spray. While I like the way it smells and the way it makes the coat shines, I've found that after a few days it's back to the same ole dull coat. Now, when I took Woodie in for a check up, he had dry skin. The vet sold me a bottle of VET Solutions Aloe & Oatmeal Shampoo. Not only did this shampoo smell like the CC products, it made the hair glisten. I last bathed Gracie on Friday. I was brushing her last night and her hair was still SOOOO soft and shiny. It is also a conditioning shampoo and even though I still used a conditioner, I really didn't have to. She still smells good and like I said, her coat looks beautiful. |
Here's my review!.. Ginger My Yorkie has a Silky Coat, Oreo My Yorkie/Pom has the Pom hair, curly when wet lol, and Cloey My maltese has a cottony coat. I have used the Chris Christensen: Day to Day Shampoo & Conditioner: - Ginger: I loved how it made her SO soft and even more silkier, except the Shampoo scent didn't last as long as i'd like.. I have to end up bathing her every week sometimes even as much as 5 days apart (no dry skin though). - Oreo: These products have made his hair more Fluffy appearing, like a true pom. Although his face and his temperament is pure Yorkie, you'd think he's a ball of pom fluff, I liked the products on him - Cloey: Because of her Cottony coat, it also made her very Soft and Fluffy, like I was touching a cloud. Ice on Ice: The smell is great, and it really works out the mats when you use it correctly. a little goes a long way with this one too, because i've learned if you use too much, it will weigh the hair down. Brushes: Oblong 20mm Brush (also from Chris Christensen): - Ginger: Worked really well for her hair type. the combination of the brush and the shampoo & conditioner really brings out the best in her coat. it's SUPER soft and silky, like it glides through my fingertips better than my hair does (i'm even contemplating using that brush!) it does take out the bigger knots and tangles, but wouldn't take out the smaller mats. - Oreo: Didn't work as well getting out all the Smaller mats and tangles, I just used this when Oreo was wet to help loosen up the hair. - Cloey: Also don't really use this as much for the mats, but I love using it on the upper part of her back where her hair is longer. I recommend the Oblong 20mm brush for silky type hair and if you are trying to grow out the hair. Slicker: Mark II Slicker: - Ginger: Didn't make her as silky, but in combination with the oblong brush, it took out all her smaller mats and tangles, and it took out a lot of the dead hair or loose hair. - Oreo: I LOVED this brush for him, it made him SO fluffy, like a fluffball. Oreo tangles and mats very easily and this slicker worked wonders for him. He sheds a lot so the Slicker automatically took out all the shedding hair and made him feel so soft. - Cloey: I also loved this brush for her, she was more fluffier after the combination of the slicker and the products. I recommend this Slicker for those that have a cottony coat and are not growing the hair out and keeping the hair short. Crazy Dog Baby Powder scented Shampoo (bought at my local Petco): I love the smell of the shampoo and that is pretty much all, it didn't do much for any of my dogs hair (like making it soft or fluffy), just smelled real nice, but it also didn't last long for Ginger, for Oreo and Cloey it lasted a little bit longer than the CC shampoo & conditioner. Top Performance GloCoat Conditioner 4 oz : (bought from petedge.com) Works just as well as the Ice on Ice, but you don't want to use too much for too long because it contains silicone which can dry out the hair. It smells amazing though, like cherries! Like the Ice on Ice a little goes a long way, but I of course always go overboard cause I LOVE the smell of cherries! These were all the products that I have tried this far, i still would like to try plush puppy and vellus so when i run out of my current supply, i'm going to be looking into those! |
I've tried CC and liked liked it. I was coming to an end of the CC and needed to order more. A good member here ;) has been raving about the seabreeze oil by Plush Puppy so I went ahead and bought that. While I was at it I went and bought some Shampoo and Conditioner. I have only tried the PP Shampoo and Conditioner once. It worked well. But I'm not sure if I was thrown off by the seabreeze oil. I could brush Annie with a BREEZE :D Her coat was nice and shiny (even the hubby noticed) The one thing that I didn't like about the PP shampoo and conditioner is that it has a very strong perfumey smell. I'm not a big smells person. I prefer fruity smells if anything... And that perfumey smell lasts for for days! |
Here are the products that I've tried so far... Here are the products that I've tried so far... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have two babies. They are siblings...from the same litter but they are totally different from each other. Ceasar has silky coat while Cleo has a very fine, cottony hair. So I am always up to trying new products that will help me with Cleo's coat. I would rate them from 1 star to 5 stars. But remember that these reviews are just based on my experiences using these products and that doesn't mean that you are going to have the same experience with them. It's a try it at your own risk situation. SHEA BUTTER CONDITIONING SHAMPOO ***** This is really great for their skin because it has oatmeal and a lot of natural ingredients which has natural healing power. Their skin never gets dry. Smells great . Makes their hair really clean...you could really tell when you would rake your fingers through their coats just like you would do to your own hair. SHEA BUTTER CONDITIONER W/ TEA TREE OIL.***** This is so concentrated so don't forget to dilute it with water. One bottle lasted for a year. It leaves their hair so soft and shiny and smelling great for a long time. They always get compliments about how great they smell. I love this product and I would always keep this in my list. SHEA BUTTER HERBAL MOISTURIZING TREATMENT.*** I like the smell but this really didn't work as I expected it to. Just didn't help reduce Cleo's hair matting problem. It didn't work for us. I still have half of the bottle. BOTANICAL DOG COAT THERAPY SHAMPOO** It has a lot of organic & natural ingredients which made me decide to try it. GO FOR ALL NATURAL!!! The shampoo smells great and it seems to really clean the coat so well but it doesn't have the element that will make the coat softer and shinier. When you rake your fingers through the coat it feels so dry and stripped off of the natural oil. The conditioner works ok but it didn't WOW me at all. It just didn't impress me that much. I still have a quarter of the bottle . EARTHBATH TEA TREE OIL & ALOE VERA SHAMPOO**** 1/2 I like this shampoo. it smells so good it is so gentle on their skin. Their skin and coat look healthier. feel softer, smell great, & look shiny after using it. I would use this again. EARTH BATH CREAM RINSE & CONDITIONER**** 1/2 I like this conditioner. It worked great for them. It gave me the after use effect that I was looking for...shinier , softer, great smelling coat. It has a very effective detangler agent that made my brushing job easier on CLEO'S cottony hair. CC SYSTEM DAY TO DAY SHAMPOO*** I tried this because everybody is raving about it. GOTTA GIVE IT A TRY!!! I guess this one didn't work that great for my babies. It's not bad but it's not that great either. CC SYSTEM DAY TO DAY CONDITIONER**** I liked this one. It smells good & it made their coats soft and shiny. I will still buy this again and would keep it in my list. CC SYSTEM ICE ON ICE**** I like the smell & it works ok for Cleo. It didn't give me the WOW reaction but I can't say it didn't help me brush Cleo's hair a little bit easier. It's light on their coats , no heavy build up. But the after use effect that I achieved would not make me stop looking for a better product for my babies. PLUSH PUPPY NATURAL CONDITIONING SHAMPOO & SILK PROTEIN CONDITIONER***** WOW!!! I love this products. I achieved the after use effect that I have been looking for. Using them together really made their coats so soft & shiny. They smell so good too after every bath. PLUSH PUPPY SEA BREEZE OIL***** Like they suggested...I diluted it with water and I think this would really last me a long time. With just a few drops of the oil and a lot of water...VOILA!!! It really made CLEO'S hair softer, straighter, shinier. And it didn't look heavy on their coats. What I do is towel dry them after their baths. Blow dry them till half dry & spray the water & Seabreeze mixture. I continue blow drying &brushing at the same time. And their coats come out so gorgeous. I really love this product. I found some products that work for my babies but I am still willing to try out other products as long as it would help my Cleo. With Ceasar I don't really have any problem. Almost any product that works for Cleo would work for him but not the other way around. So for everybody...goodluck trying out NEW products and keep us posted with your experiences. I know that not all products would work for everybody it is just up to us to try them till we will find what we are looking for. __________________ ROCELLE Cleo & Ceasar |
