Advice on Clippers I have decided to start grooming my little girl. She hates going to the groomer and without going into detail, I have decided to take care of her myself. I have watched multiple videos and I'm pretty confident that I can do this. What I would like to have help with is clippers. I am trying not to spend a lot of money on my first pair, but also I don't want to get a cheesy pair either. Could you help me out here? Thank you so much |
No one at all?? |
Hi! I got clippers from walmart. The blade is #40 its about $16 only. It's oster. Also available in amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0043...KIKX0DER&psc=1 Hope this helps! |
I bought a cheap battery Wahl clippers at Walmart and have had it for years. Works like a charm! Susan |
Invest in a high quality clipper. If you are going to do full body clips, I would advise investing in a good clipper. Back in the day when were heavy into miniature horses (we raised and trained them to drive) we would do full body clips. I had an Andis and it served me well through many years of heavy use. I am thinking about buying the Andis PoClip for the Yorkies. I groom my two - I keep Lollie in a short puppy clip and Lacie in in full coat. If you are just doing sanitary clips and trims, then a cheap one will suffice. |
Hi, I would like to throw my two cents into this conversation. First off I would at least advise spending $30-50 on a pair of clippers. Cheap clippers for one get hot quickly and can burn your yorkie’s skin and two are dull, not effective at clipping the dog’s hair to the desired length, you’ll end up having to go over the hair multiple times and it comes out uneven. I would highly advise going to Sally’s Beauty Supply Store and buying a pair of shears and a pair of thinning shears. These are basically all the tools the professional groomers use on a standard Yorkie cut. |
I have been grooming my three girls for girls with a Andis clipper using a #10 blade most of the time. I use a Walh Peanut clipper for their feet. I spent around $ 95 for the Andis clippers and I believe around $ 30 for the Wahl. I would advise you to invest in at least a couple of blades because they do get hot. If you take your time with your pup it can become a great bonding time that you both will enjoy. |
