Nail Clippers for Yorkies? Hey, I am looking for a new pair of nail clippers for my young yorkie as her claws are beginning to grow out slightly. I have watched the tutorial video but am now wondering about the type/brand I should go for if anyone has any advice. I found this list - http://cleanerpaws.com/best-dog-nail-clippers/- and was wondering if anyone had tried any of these as the reviews look quite good? Any help would be great! |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. The page for the clippers that you linked is no longer active, so I'm not sure what kind you were looking at. I prefer the scissor kind over the "guillotine" straight style. The scissors allow you to cut from the side. For me, that makes it easier to avoid cutting too much nail and cutting the quick, causing bleeding. For smaller Yorkies, or dogs with small nails, the cat nail clippers work well. Have some styptic powder or corn starch on hand in case of bleeding. |

I like the set with the guard plate, helps me keep from cutting too much when they wiggle around too much... ya still gotta be careful with them, but, for me, the plate helps. |
Hello, I'm using pet nail grinder and nail grinder is best as compared to nail clipper. I using both but I recommend nail grinder to all. I read dog nail grinder reviews and after that I happy with using it and my dog also. You should try this once, surely you will like it. Thanks. |
Hello, I also use the scissors with the round area in the blades...tried the PediPaws but found that it slows down too much to be effective for quick trimming...I stopped using human nail clippers and used dog nail clippers as I noticed that they 'shatter' the end of the nail and make Reuben's nails 'catch' uncomfortably on stuff... __________________ |
