Matting and spiky hair help I used to be a groomer, so this isn't my first rodeo...but Kaira's hair is going to be the death of me. How do you guys handle the matting caused by clothing? Last time I put something other than her working vest on, she looked like a disaster after and it took ages to comb out. I brush it twice a day, but without fail, within an hour of brushing it is sticking out all spikey and looks like I picked her up off the street. She's cute spikey but I'd like to get it to cooperate more. I can do a full groom on her and she looks AMAZING. Until the next day. Then she stops being smooth and shiny and is back to spikey tufts of nonsense. Is there a special product you guys use to keep their hair nice? I have noticed a lot of improvement since I rescued her and got her on good food and coconut supplement, but it's still pretty hard to maintain. I never expected it to be easy to keep up a long coat, but I can't make it nice it seems no matter what I do to it. |
Does Kaira have a silk or cotton coat? Cotton coats tend to mat more easily. Clothing: no way around it. Clothes tend to cause tangles especially with longer hair. A silk lining or undershirt is the only thing that might help. |
I believe it's kind of in between. It's definitely not fully silky, but not totally fluffy either. She's a crossbreed with chihuahua so her coat is definitely sort of odd. Do you have any thoughts on where I might get a silk undershirt? I would totally invest in a few for her! I am amazed her working vest does not mat her, nor does her buddy belt, but any clothing seems to be instant snarl time and I like her long. |
