LOL, cowlick. Max's beard is about the same length right now and is proving harder to care for than his longer beard. :D Teddy does great with a shorter beard, but Max was meant to be longer, I guess.

Wish I could send my boys to you. They are growing hairier underneath with age and require more trimming. The problem is that we are all new to trimming the undercarriage, so we are finding it very challenging. What is your method? Do your babies roll over for you, or do you hold them in a standing position?

Thank you everyone! I am loving his low maintenance hair style...he seems more comfy bc it's getting hot here.

Loll about Max, wonders why that is...I had to do facial washes every other day w/Turbo bc the hair around his mouth would get crunchy. He drools a lot when we walk (from excitement maybe) & when he eats, hair would end up in his mouth. I think he's happy about the facial washes being eliminated loll.

For their under chest/tummy hairs, are the boys still in full length coat on the body? Then you'll want to save the front chest hair, to give the illusion of a flowing coat. Lift up that section & w/scissors, just trim up the inside. Under the chest & tummy area.

It works best when they're standing on the table but if they're more comfy on your lap, on their back, you can trim it like that too. What ever works loll.

The boys still have their coats. Wish I could tattoo a line across their chest of where to cut to preserve the chest hair, LOL!

I trim my two on their bellies so that they are cleaner. Couver is especially important because he gets smelly if I don't keep his belly hair short. I roll them on their backs in my lap and use the trimmers. They both let me shave their bellies and it keeps them a lot cleaner! If I were to draw a line (on the boys), I would say look at where their rib cage meets in the middle and stop there if you want them to have the flowy look but have tidy tummies.

Couver and Khloe are such good babies rolling over and allowing you to trim.

So cute. Toto has a similar look right now too. Did you shave Turbo down on his body? I could not keep Toto clean when he was in full coat. I even trimmed his undercarriage but it was too much work, and he has SO much hair it was taking way too long to groom him. Plus he's always hot and panting so he has the "Joey" now. Like Maximo, Toto's shorter bear somehow gets dirtier than his floor grazing beard. Always gets stuck in his mouth.

Kristin, I do shave Toto on his undercarriage, and before when he was in full coat I used the metal hair slips that hairdressers use when they cut our hair to hold up the section I didn't want to cut. They hold up a decent amount of hair. When I do his undercarriage he stands for me, and when I get to that flappy chicken skin part near the hips I spread it flat with my hand and shave with the other. Last thing I need to do is nick him, then he will never trust me again with the shavers.

Right between the legs, ugh! I do manage to catch the boys in belly rub mode on their backs and cut the hair there with scissors. They were getting knots between their back legs, eeek! Not comfortable or good.

How do you trim around the wee wee? M&T's hair is getting quite thick. We always cut for length, but I am afraid to shave around the tiny base. For such big boys, they have surprisingly tiny boy parts.

Actually Toto doesn't have a ton of hair by his wee wee. I do trim his pee string though. He does get a lot of little mats on his inner thighs. I just cut off a bunch of them today before his bath.

Sounds like they're more comfy on your lap, on their back...for the wee wee area, lift up the hairs you want to cut & use a blunt tipped scissor. Point the scissor horizontally from their body, that way, the hair will cut straight & no poking accidents will happen.

Relaxation is key...do it when they're sleepy & relaxed...& next time, it will be easier.

I did, I shaved down Turbo's body & left his legs long. He doesn't like my clunky big clipper, I wanted to use a 5F blade...he'll tolerate my cordless Wahl, but the longest blade is a #9...so it's very short.

It's funny how Toto's & Max's mouth gets dirtier when short loll. I did use curved scissors to cut around the face & finish w/thinning shears to get rid of that choppy look.

This is a great video of a layerd round face cut for drop coats (single coated breeds), it shows how to cut around the mouth @ 5:04 (but his arm is in the way!). But you can see how the mouth part looks. Jonathan David uses thinning shears only. Mine won't tolerate that, all the snipping, so I use curved scissors & finish w/thinning shears. I have medium sized Yorkie that weighs 20 lbs. He gets a haircut called a Yorkiebear hair cut. It keeps him very comfortable and he is fresh looking for the summer time. He really seems to like it.
Ask your groomer about that kind of cut ;)

I just googled that hair cut, that cut is absolutely adorable, my Cody would look adorable in that cut.

Turbo looks SUPER adorable. And after reading this thread I feel grateful to keep Jackson so short :p:p:eek: He doesn't get brushed for weeks sometimes and is fine, ooppss.

I had to cut Turbo's muzzle shorter...once the hair grew out a little, it kept going in his mouth when he was eating, just like Max & Toto! Lol

Inspired by the Asian hairstyles...Attachment 407517 No more mouth wash after eating.:D

Turbo looks adorable, love the Asian hair style. Wish I could keep the Asian style on Cody but his head is always in some hole he has dug in the yard. Turbo has such a beautiful face.

Chip gets the Yorkie Bear about every 6 weeks...it grows out nicely...he's still too young for a complicated do...this cut combs out easily and is really comfortable for him...I let his beard grow a bit longer tho!
