Very dry skin :( Hi all, I have 4,5 yr old girl in short cut. Recently, I saw she has very very dry skin. Took her to vet because I was afraid he has any skin issues. Her skin is healthy but is very dry. It looks like dandruff(but my vet said its scaly and dry skin). Already put coconut oil on her but didnt help at all. I always washed her in human shampoo and never had any reactions. Do you know any affordable shampoo which can help? |
Some Yorkies are okay with human shampoo, but I recommend using a shampoo that is formulated for dogs. There is a different pH balance, and a really good one will have gentler ingredients. Be sure to rinse out shampoo really well. Leftover shampoo residue is drying and can cause flaking. Follow up with a conditioner. Having a short haircut can also expose Yorkie skin more to the impact of weather and your home environment. If it is cold where you live and you are heating your home, that can contribute to dry skin. During the warmer months, be careful of sunburn. |
Mine had the same problem. May I recommend a new shampoo? I began to use a higher quality shampoo, I believe the name was Splash & Shine, but it's been over two years since I have purchased it. The smell, if I remember correctly, was very lovely and it worked well with Coop's dry skin. |
Dunno about the shampoo. But the most important thing is to rinse it out. When you think your done....Rinse some more. |
