Short notice- but please help? Hi all, Wednesday will be the first time I use a mobile groomer. Has anyone had experience of these services and can help me with what to expect? I think the van will sit in my driveway and the water tank will be attached to the van but the groomer will need access to an electrical outlet for power for the dryer etc. Also, the website says that they use doggy cologne which my regular groomer doesn't use. Is doggie cologne safe!!! I know it smells good (and Teddy does not..lol!) but I just want to be sure that it's safe i.e. if he licks it off, he doesn't throw up afterwards. The groomer has asked that she come 15 minutes early for an 'interview' to understand my expectations etc which I think is amazing! But, I'm not entirely sure what to ask since I normally let groomers do their thing as long as it doesn't involve cage dryers! Your input appreciated and, as always, thank you so much. |
I used a mobile groomer once and she said Rasta bit her which caused her to nip him with clippers. Since then, I groom myself(he has the long show coat) or I take him to his breeder. The mobile groomer I had come to our home used all natural products so I didn't have a problem with the "cologne". Ask the groomer what products they use and check out the ingredients. |
The mobile groomer I used didn't need my electric or anything, the van just sat running in my driveway. The interview will probably be about how you want him cut and letting Teddy meet the groomer a bit. I don't like doggy cologne, it smells awful, like overpowering old lady perfume, of course some might be ok. I'm sensitive to smells so I gave the groomer my own shampoo to use. |

Teddy has horrible, wooly coat so I cannot continue to groom him myself as I am just not that talented or patient. I don't like stressing him, either, and I am concerned that my incompetence stresses him because I'm stressed! The groomer is over tomorrow and I don't know why I'm so nervous about it - it's just fur! |
I never used one. I groom Galen myself. But everything is contained and they should not need anything. . Doggie colognes are safe. I perfer not to use them. So I just tell them not to if you perfer. . . Good luck I hope it works out |
Teddy is in the van now as we speak...lol He seemed to love the groomer more than me and I get a break from his crazy so, hopefully, he'll come out looking fabulous dahlink! |
I am glad he is loving it . . .send the groomer here after they are finished lol |
Can't wait to see him!!! |
1 Attachment(s) I'm so bad at pics - but here he is! You can see how cottony his little legs are - nightmare for me but groomer did a good job! |
I've never used one, but I've used doggy cologne on Chloe before, and it wasn't the best. It's different for each dog, and it made her smell nice, but she was scratching more than usual. She didn't have any issues with licking it off, but she chewed herself red in some spots. You could probably ask them to use something else, or not use anything at all and give the pup a bath. It might have been the brand I was using on Chlo-Bug, but I would rather not put your dog through the same thing she went through. |
Look nice...But fwiw I don't like anything with fragrance. IMO if its smells strong to me it would for my dogs. Just makes Moki roll in something that smells better to him..which is usually worst. At least you found a groomer...Hard to do sometimes |
