How long does it take you to do a full grooming? Sometimes I feel like I take too long, but I'm not sure. I can never do a full grooming in 1 time because that will take me a while, so I split up things like bath, ear hair trimming, nail cutting, leg hair trim, etc. Usually, after the bath I clean her ears, trim her nails and brush out her hair. This itself takes me a while and Chloe wants to get off the grooming table as soon as possible. I sometimes feel guilty for keeping her on the table while I do all this because I'm not sure if I'm being too slow or if it's normal. How long does it take you guys to groom your yorkies? I think I need to work on my techniques on how to work faster with grooming her. |

Nothing wrong with taking some time to do the grooming, or splitting up the tasks. It takes me a good hour to wash, blow dry, and comb out. I do two shampoos and one conditioner. If you want trim her nails at a different time - that will save you some time. And trim her coat the next day. |
The bath is probably the shortest part of the grooming routine. I absolutely swear by cutting his nails right after a bath, though, when they are soft and malleable. I will never go back to attempting to trim Blazer's nails when they aren't bath soft! The actual cutting part of his grooming takes a while, but I am usually done within an hour, depending on how shaggy he is and how much he cooperates (which is usually pretty well.) |
I alternate "the extras". One week I bathe, trim hair on body, face, paws. The next week I bathe, trim ears and clip nails, and may touch up previous weeks trim if I notice any problem areas or uneven cuts. An entire full grooming, like you said, just takes too long and requires too much time on the grooming table at one go. |

I would say an hour . That's a detangle , trim , bath, blow dry and top knot placement. I take her to the vet for nail trim the same day. That type of groom is not each week but every 4-6. Her weekly routine is a detangle, teeth brushing , bath which takes less than 20 minutes . I let her air dry if we don't have anywhere to go. So that cuts out time. Nothing wrong with breaking it up. It can be a chore. Emma is in full coat. When I had Troy I groomed him with a shave down every 8 weeks and that took me an hour to an hour and a half. |
I usually do the grooming, private patch on an opposite day then bathing. Then I i was him. Take a little break of him wrapped in a towel. Then I dry him |
