Can all grooming be done just with straight shears? I have been using 7.5" MGT Supreme shears but sometimes I think that it would be easier if I had curved shears for rounding out the paws. What are thinning shears used for, are they necessary for a long coat? I made a little bit of a wrong trim on Chloe's legs and it's been growing back a little choppy, is this when I should use trimming shears? Was just wondering if spending extra money is necessary or if I can just continue with my straight shears. These are the shears I have: https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemain...c-locale=en_US |
Thinning shears are great for blending and hiding mistakes, and they're useful for matts (cut the matt with it then try to comb it out, you can save some hair and the spot isn't as obvious). I also use them to thin out Lola's butt area because it keeps the area cleaner. For me thinning shears are necessary, but I'd just buy a cheap pair from Sally's. The pair I use were my mom's from when she went to beauty school in the 80's, she says they weren't expensive. My straight shears were $10 at Sally's and they work great. I'm wondering about curved shears too, for the paws and beard. |
I like to use the thinking shears to make their hair look whispy. |
