groomer butchered my dog My dog had beautiful long hair and my husband and I decided it was time for him to get a hair cut. I love his long hair so I didn't want him too short where on the other hand my husband wanted him short. I took him to the groomers she trimmed him but I was not crazy about it and neither was my husband so we took him back and asked to cut him short. He has parts of his hair that are uneven and wasnt even done. I corrected some areas like his legs, ears and face but I don't know what to do with his body. There are parts that stick up... it just looks horrible. I'm definitely not cutting him short again. I do have my own clippers that I just bought but I am unsure if I should use the clippers again on him to try and even out his hair. I will post a picture as soon as I can |
I can imagine you are upset! A bad haircut is really frustrating. Don't worry, it grows back fairly quickly. I groom my boys at home and have made mistakes, done things that I decided I did not like. I'm sure your baby is still adorable. Make sure you keep telling him that too. :) |
I an but with this experience I went and bought my own clippers since I have 3 dogs in the house that need to go for grooming i shaped up his haircut but it's still better bad especially since he had such long beautiful hair before the cut. I know im going to make mistakes but at least I'm not paying 50 bucks for someone else's mistake. I really do hope it goes back fast took a while to get it to where it was. Yes he still is. He's my little baby❤️ |
This is why I groom my two at home. They prefer being groomed by me and then I'm not paying someone else to mess up my dogs' hair. I also like that they don't have to go to a strange place and be stressed out for several hours as some stranger handles them. I also have heard lots of horror stories about neglect and abuse, so I prefer not to have to worry about that. Grooming really isn't that difficult, you just have to practice and have the time for it. |
I hope you got pictures of the bad hair cut to show the shop's owner or manager but in any event, if the groomer didn't follow your instructions or just frankly did a poor grooming job, ask for your money back. Believe it or not, when that hair grows out just a tad more, your dog will look adorable to you - puppyish, perky and feisty with that short cut! Yorkies look adorable no matter what the hair cut! I love the long, silky, graceful Yorkie coats and the short, dapper puppy cuts that seem to accentuate the more typical terrier look too. Thankfully your doggie wasn't hurt jumping off the grooming table, cut or nicked with sharp scissors or razor burned, which I first thought the word "butchered" might have meant at first glance of the thread title. But I quickly reminded myself we always use that term for bad hair cuts most of the time and calmed down. Before you know it, that hair will grow back if your dog's coat is anything like my Tibbe's. His hair grows like wildfire. You can learn to do a good grooming job at home watching YouTube videos so you never have to entrust your baby to a groomer again if you don't want to chance it again. |
