Getting tangled on belly Hi I have a 4 1/2 month old female and I have noticed she is getting tangled on her belly. Any tips on how to keep this from happening? Maybe a spray conditioner? A certain comb, etc.. Been years since I owned a Yorkie and his hair never got long so I am really not used to the grooming needs. Also what is the best way to keep the hair on the back nice and silky and straight without it bushing out? I know it takes more work but I am willing to give it a go. I have seen some with really bushy and wavy coats and I do not like that look as much. Hers is still growing and not long right now but would like to learn as I go :-) |
My dog is almost in a full coat, I keep her belly cut short, it doesn't effect the look of her hair. I also cut her arm pit hair short. You should use a conditioning spray when you brush her. The bushy-ness is a coat texture issue. If your dog has a silky coat it'll lay flat, if it's a cotton coat it'll grow out. The coat will also change texture a bit as she gets older. Blow drying helps with the waves. |
Thank you. Any particular conditioning spray you recommend? And would this be a conditioning spray you would leave in on dry coat? |
Yes, you spray it on the dry coat or onto the hair brush and leave it in. I spray the brush unless Lola has bad knots or her hair feels dry, then I spray her coat. I mix a blob of conditioner with water in a spray bottle, I'm currently using Ion Extreme Moisture Creme. Ion Extreme Moisture Creme |
