Use of collar on the grooming table? I noticed that my groomer is using a collar on my little girl during grooming. They do a great job, but this week for the first time - she started making little honking noises a few days after her groom. It looks like reverse sneezing, but I've also been reading about collapsed trachea issues. Can a pup be groomed on the table with her harness versus the collar? I've never used a collar on her - it's only used at the groomers, during her weekly puff&fluff. Thanks for any feedback! |
My groomer uses a grooming loop but uses it behind the front legs around the chest NEVER anything around the neck. A friend with a very tiny, approximately 2 lb yorkie is now having artificial rings into the trachea due to an injury from being restrained improperly during the grooming. Thousands of dollars but the groomer is having to pay. |
I would find another groomer, or preferably, groom at home as I do now. Too many dogs have fallen off tables with the grooming loop around the neck, resulting in injury or death. Some groomers are tempted to step away from the dog on the table with the loop. A big no no. A harness cannot be used because you cannot groom around the harness. I do most of my grooming on a counter that has a wall on one side, and my body blocking the other. When I work on an open counter, my hand never leaves the dog, although my boys work well with me and never try to get away. |
Yeah after my first trip and my Biewer coughing for two days from it, I now do my own grooming. I don't like my baby sitting in a cage for 6-8 hours, wet and being tugged at. Easier for him and for me. The clipping is easy I do it in stages to make it easier and then bath day. It's good bonding time for them too. Mine loves to be pampered by mama :) |
