How much time do you spend grooming? How much time do you spend grooming? (normal day, no baths or cutting unless you do it daily) How many dogs do you have? Sizes, hair texture, hair length? Any unusual circumstances? (puppy, show dog, lots of swimming, etc) What do you do? I usually spend 10-15 minutes a day. I have one dog, she's 7lbs, has silky hair and her hair is currently level with her body and her legs trimmed to match, but it used to be knee length with much furrier legs. (The longer length took about the same amount of time) No unusual circumstances. Morning- top knot and eye boogers Night- brush hair, comb hair, brush teeth, clean beard, and wipe her private areas |
20 minutes each dog/multiple quick checks during the day for hair in the eyes, mouth, fixing topknots, sanitary needs 2 dogs, about 9 pounds, full silk coats Biggest challenges: daily long walks that result in sticks, leaves, dry grass and all kinds of interesting things getting stuck in their coats |
Ummm maybe 5-10 minutes per WEEK... lol. In the summer, he gets a bath once a week. That's usually as often as he gets brushed as he stays short/shaved. The only thing I have to brush/comb is his facial hair and his long tail. Oh and teeth brushing almost every night. |
We live in FL he gets a bath once every 7-9 days. I brush him every other day five I minutes. Fall/winter coat five inches long. once a month trim feet pads, face trim, poop slide, underbelly shaved. Summer cut short on back/side leave feathers. I trim legs and chest short. I just cut the hair on top of his head to short, tired of top knot. He hates it keeps pulling out. He looks very cute with top knot cut short. Too hot here in the summer. |
Now that my 4 are all in some type of varying lengths of short cuts, I spend zero time grooming them some days. I don't even have to brush them til after their bath, once a week, when they're clean & soft. So bath day, I devote almost all day grooming them. I do Mimi, Turbo & Princess' topknot only when it's covering their eyes & they can't see loll. That's probably 3-4 x's a week & roughly spend about 10-15 mins total. Brushing, massaging their heads, kissing them several x's, we have to have those make out sessions. The make out sessions are timeless, it's not included in the 10-15 mins.:D I do brush their teeth every night, no matter what & check their eyes, usu 2-3 x's a day for any eye goobers & clean that up when needed. I'd hate to have something in my eyes & not be able to take it out...they tell me by scratching their face. |
Since Lilah's puppy fuzz has grown out and she is more silky now I don't spend much time at all grooming her. She does get combed out and bathed weekly (and if I'm petting her and she has a tangle I brush it out) but I'm not brushing her daily. Once her coat gets longer I will probably have to |
