Re: Hair at the inbetween stage As of January 23rd 2014, I am now the proud owner of a precious new furbaby! Her name is Daisy & she is 1 1/2 years old. She is just so stinkin' cute and is a teeny tiny little thing! We took her to the vet and when they weighed her she was only 2 pounds 8 ounces. EEK! So I did some research online & found a vitamin supplement & ordered it. She has been taking it for about a month now & I am so happy to report that she is now up to 2 pounds 14 ounces. We did have a Yorkie named Zoe for 14 years prior to getting Daisy, but I never wanted to have Zoe in a full coat. With Daisy, I have a strong desire to get her into full coat! With that being said, I took her to a new groomer because we moved an hour away from where we used to take Zoe & OMG..... The lady put her body & legs in pretty much a puppy cut! :2omg: I was devestated to see her like this!!! So her hair is in the so called ugly stage right now... It's to short to band up in a top knot & yet, so long it drapes over here eyes making her look like a sheep dog!!! I have tried the little snap clips but she takes her paw & gets that out. :( I do bath her once a week & she is a super clean dog, but because of how her hair comes over her eyes, she doesn't look groomed! Ugh! Please help!!! |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Mine are kept in a puppy cut most of the year so I'm not much help. The in between stage is hard to deal with. It may take as long as 6 months to get the hair on top of the head to get long enough for a top knot so have patience. |
Can you get the hair up in a scrunchie? Or maybe use tiny bands to put it up? Even if you have to use more than one. When I was growing Rosie's out we used bands and clips to keep it out of her eyes. It didn't look pretty but it was better than having it in her eyes. Oh and by the way, I would find a new groomer if she didn't cut it like you wanted her to. Welcome to YT! |
Welcome! I would try the tiny bands. |
Keep trying the tiny bands even if she tries to take them out. She may get used to them. Tell her how pretty she looks. You did not mention the kind of coat she has. Is it thick or thin? Sometimes just trimming the ends works. I do my own grooming and I just love doing it. Sometimes a cut takes me two or three days until I like it. I know not everyone feels the same way. It's a trial and error thing but my boy got used to me doing it and cooperates. Good luck. |
