Best coat oil for dry, cotton coat. Gunners coat is getting worse, especially from his belly bands. I need a good coat oil/conditioner to leave on that isn't to oily? |
Not sure if oils will help, unless the hair is wrapped. There was a Biewer breeder here that shaved or trimmed (sorry, can't remember & wish I knew how to look for that pic) the belly part only bc it was matting up so badly. It helps to shave the underbelly, even up to where the belly band would wrap around the bottom. It won't look funny. I shave my girls' & guys' underbelly all the way up to their chest in the summer time bc it gets so hot & humid here. Here it is! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ath-belly.html |

I use coconut oil, it may take a day to soak in but then I can't see or feel any oiliness on the coat. Also try to find a silk lined belly band. |

No, I make my own... |
Biewer puppy hair is a pain. lol last year I had to shave Galen because a friend did not brush him when we were on vacation. It was bad. But I have to say . . . His adult hair is now so much better. Doesn't mat if I miss a day. I will check. I know someone said they make silk or satin ones. |
I use an olive oil shampoo and conditioner on my dogs. |

Since I keep mine all cut really short, and I am no expert on "show coats" nor do I have any real issues with coats, I will say I really like Mink Oil.....I use the spray once or twice a week, kind of like a spa treatment on the weekends and mid-week.....massage it in all really well all over their body, especially feet/pads/between toes.....it has a sun screen in it just in case the sun gets too harsh on their skin with short coat cuts! Summer brings out the kiddie pools and mine are either playing in the kiddie pools or at the very least, running through the water as they do laps around the yard, keeping them wet most of the day.....I think this Mink Oil keeps their skin/hair from drying out. |
Have you tried MinkSheen shampoo and conditioner that contains mink oil? My Meika has an easily matting coat (she is 3/4 Yorkie 1/4 Maltese), and MinkSheen was a lifesaver when I kept her coat long. MinkSheen Pet Shampoo from Touch of Mink There are usually coupons available too. |
You could also try a very small amount of Argan oil. If you rub a tiny amount on your palms and then rub them on his coat, it should help. You could also dilute some with water and spritz it on his hair. |
