Minimizing professional grooming? Lola is nearly 6 months and needs to be groomed soon, her hair is starting to look shaggy and I can't deal with the nightly battle anymore. Her hair typically doesn't knot too badly, but if I hit a snag she freaks out. I use a spray conditioner, brush, comb, brush, and am very gentle. I'm pretty sure she's going to be silky. I'm hoping to get Lola groomed every 4-6 months and maintain it myself (ears, sanitary, paws). I want to leave her face longer and cut her body shorter (without shaving it). I defiantly want her to have a top knot and longer hair by her eyes, so it doesn't get in them. Any suggestions for cuts that grow out well? |
I am not sure but here is some websites with cuts Yorkshire Terrier Grooming at Roxie Delux in Birmingham Explore Yorkie Haircuts Pictures And Select The Best Style For Your Pet Yorkie Hairstyles and Hair Cuts - Pictures |
Thanks, some of those cuts are cute but a lot are a bit too alternative for my tastes. I'm thinking about cutting her body like this http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/or...1b6eb60172.jpg and her face/ears like this, with the hair by her eyes a bit longer 5DmE8h0u.jpg - Imgend or a shorter version of this http://www.twilightyorkies.com/Kiss_Me.jpg The only thing that makes me sad is she's going to lose a lot of her black puppy fur, a lot of her roots are already charcoal. |
This is what you can do @ home w/a Wahl Peanut trimmer & a pair of economy curved shears. You can learn to do it by watching utube vids: sanitary trim, tipping ears, trimming hair under paws, shave or scissor underbelly & arm pits, scissor around the paws & trim the body length w/scissors & many more! If you want to trim their body hair w/clippers, you'll need to invest in a pet grooming kit or a clipper w/blades. |
tell your groomer what you told us and i'm sure she'll give you plenty of tips don't mean to be sexist |
