My breeder told me about a trimmer made by Wahl called Pocket Pro pet trimmer. She actually demonstrated it the day I bought my Charlie. She used it on his paw pads, his ears and around his rectum. I am thinking of purchasing one. Its less than 20 dollars. Charlies Mama |

Teri, can you have someone hold Galen while you groom? You'd be surprised how calm he will be. I have my dad hold Turbo & Mimi when I groom them bc they will not stay still. I have my dad just pet their head or hold their head & kiss them loll, it's a good distraction. If I need to work on Mimi's face, my dad will hold onto her torso. Turbo will let me work on his head but not clip his body. He was a little matted when he was living w/my aunt & the clipper caught on a mat & I think it hurt him a little & ever since then, he won't let me. Quote:

I am going to try to have my DBF to hold him and try to see if that works. It is upsetting that he was doing pretty good except for his feet. My sister laughs cause I am so not a high mantainance kind of girl. He is one high mantainance little guy. |
I use for the paw pads a moustache trimmer for Razzle's feet, and the clippers for Magics feet. For the BRT I use a #20. Personally I like the clippers for the paw pad hair. I do feel it is really important to keep the hair out from between the pads of the feet. Shaping the outer foot look is less important in a pet dog. But what I do now for my Yorkie as he is not showing, is just accumulate the hair over the foot in one hand, and scissor around the outside of the paw. |
The last time I groomed Brandi it took both my sister and I two hours because she fought us every stop of the way. Didn't help that my DD hadn't properly groomed her for several months. She didn't get all of he hair combed out only the surface. It was quite the mess. She looks so much nicer now ! |
