Coconut oil is a MIRACLE product! OMG I have posted countless times about how much I despise the puppy coat. I gave up on Luma's puppy coat and got her shaved at about 4 months old. Her hair grew back beautiful, silver, silky, and so luxuriously soft. Rosie is from the same sire and dam. Her puppy coat is just as bad as Lumas was if not worse. I booked an appointment for Monday to get her shaved down but I wanted to work out all the mats and make her as presentable as possible. I noticed her skin was horribly dry and dandruffy. I took the coconut oil I put on Luma's food and melted some in my hands. Worked it into Rosie's skin and through her hair. She looked awful and greasy but then I looked up how to wrap a show dog's coat and tried to replicate that. Took it out today and shampood and conditioned her and OMG her coat is 100% different!!! AMAZING!! The actual texture of her hair seems altered! It is absolutely soft, light, silky, shiny, smooth....why didn't I do this earlier?! So happy right now and looks like I'll be keeping her black coat a while longer. I'll have to take pics tomorrow, gonna try to get some for the calendar so I'll post here if I manage to get a good one. If you are about to give up on the puppy coat TRY COCONUT OIL!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: |
How long did you keep her wrapped? Scarlett has a very cottony coat that Matt's like crazy. I'm tired of having to keep her short because of it. |
I know! Nancy1999 gave me a tip months ago for Lexi's puppy coat which was so hard to manage. She suggested that I skip the shampoo and only condition her between shampoos. I did that once and it was like a miracle. The texture of her hair was changed forever. She has NEVER matted again. Now that you mention it, the conditioner has coconut oil in it! The transformation was AMAZING!!! She has been so soft and silky every since. It was truly miraculous. |
Oh that sounds like a great idea. I am going to have to try it. This puppy coat is killing me. I keep brushing but it seems like I sneeze he mats lol |
It really is a miracle. Lola's legs were really matted down to the skin, I thought I was going to have to scalp both back legs but I got it out fairly easily with coconut oil. The biggest problem was she kept trying to lick the oil while I was trying to comb. I do brush her every night and comb her most nights, but she hates it when I mess with her "pants" area. |
That’s great! Glad her coat is improving. Are you going to grow Luma’s hair out? I know you recently shaved her- she looks so cute with that cut. |
