Matting mess...I am a horrible mom! Yup, I was cuddling with my baby Rosie and realized she had huge, tight, super thick matting all over both her back legs. I have no idea how it even happened. I work at a groomer, when we have.people bring their matted dogs in, it is really easy to lay the blame on the owners being negligent and sometimes even cruel. I feel SOOOOO bad. Luma loves grooming time. We started early with daily brushing and all that and she just adores it. Rosie fights me tooth and nail to have her teeth brushed, hair brushed, nails filed....so....she is sooo teeny and her bones seem so fragile. I'm so afraid to hurt her. It's 1 am and we're about to start dematting her. I feel really terrible. This happened to Luma as a puppy too and we ended up having her shaved...I don't want to shave.Rosie but gosh do I despise this awful black puppy coat!!! (This thread is mostly for venting purposes) |
Don't feel bad and you are not a horrible mom! A horrible mom would have noticed and leave her like that, you instead are starting to dematting her even though it's 1 am :D :) |

Poor Rosie girl. I hope you were able to comb her out. Teddy matted badly on his legs when he was a pup. There were times I feared I would have to shave, but everything always came out easier than I expected. |
Your a good mom. You are rectifying the situation. I brush Galen every day. The days I did not brush him because I was in the hospital, he became a wiggle worm again. Tries to bite the brush and doesn't want to be brushed. I found to small mats on the inside of his legs. Your not the only one. |
Oh Carmen. You come here and vent anytime. Now, that you have...and yes, that puppy coat/hair (whatever it is called lol) is a pain in the you know what!! I hear ya! I was so happy when Mandie's finally transitioned. So much better now :) And, like everyone has said, (and you know in your heart)...You are a GREAT Yorkie Mom!!!! Look at you! Up at 1am dematting your baby. That is amazing!! I have seen Luma's tricks and obedience - that takes love and time. It takes a great Mommie! Breathe! De-matt...and move forward. ;) |
I agree, you are a great mommy!! Probably everyone of us has at sometime had to deal with a matting issue. Give yourself credit for taking care of your baby and pat yourself on the back for tackling this head on!! Good for you and good for your pup. When it's all done you will both feel much better! |
