Keeping them clean between baths? Any tips for keeping Yorkies looking and smelling clean between baths? I prefer bathing Jillie every 2 weeks for skin concerns, which is usually just right for her every-other-week therapy dog visits to the hospital. But with her therapy dog brother Eddie rehabbing after surgery, she's picking up his visits as well and she's making 2 or 3 visits a week. Between baths, I use Biogroom waterless bath. It's a liquid, so I don't know where they get "waterless." I spray it in, lather her up and wipe it off. It gets her smelling nice, at least, but I question how "clean" it makes her. I also started using SPA facial cleanser for tearing. But, again, that's a soap and I worry that I'm not getting it all rinsed out. I use wet cotton pads to rinse it as well as possible, but I wish I could rinse it off better. Anybody have any thoughts? |
I use the waterless shampoo as well. I prefer the powder over the sprays/foams. I'm not sure how clean they actually get them but I like the way they smell for a couple days after and also the way the powder absorbs the oiliness in the fur. On my puppy I use grooming wipes daily..they help a lot. |

I do therapy visits too and I know what you mean, its hard when you have multiple visits close together. Most of the time I wet her down and put a tiny bit shampoo on feet & privates and wipe her eyes off with a clean wet cloth. Rinse it all out good and load her up good with Biogroom Silk conditioner and let it sit a minute or two and rinse. Its a lot of time & trouble still, but at least she's not getting completely soaped up. I like to clean her the day I go, so I'm running home from work on my lunch break doing the bath, brushing & dry, and run back to work. Its hard getting all that done in an hour! LoL |

Mike I love the Espree facial foam. It is easier to clean up than the spa in my opinion. |

If you don't want to use anything that requires water to rinse off, for tear stains I recommend: Espree Tear Satin & Spot Remover. Just apply some on a baby terry cloth & wipe their eyes/ face, butt wash, where ever loll. Just started carrying it on my site: Espree |
