Clipper Blades question I have the Oster A5 clipper and asking which blade is right for ear trimming and which blade is good to in between the toes? Hope someone with experience in grooming can answer. Thank you for your replies. |
I'm not familiar w/Oster clippers & blades, but I think it's universal...the #10 blade (usually comes w/clippers) can be used to tip the ears (flaps only!), sanitary trim, tidy the paws & can be used under attachable combs. You can also use it to trim away mats that are to the skin. Remember for blades: higher the #, shorter the cut. |
What about the "combs" that come with different clippers? I am afraid to use the clippers without a comb guard on them. Is this something I should be using? I haven't tried clipping just yet. I am really nervous cause Princess Sophie is such a wiggle worm. LOL |

They sense our nervousness, so don't be nervous...I know, easier said than done loll! Don't expect a perfect cut on your 1st try & remember that the hair grows back. If she wiggles too much, give her a break for a few mins & she should be fine on the next try. You can also train her to be on a grooming table, kitchen counter, on top of the dryer machine or anywhere you choose by brushing her on there. You can start w/the biggest/ longest comb & work your way down/shorter. That way, you'll get the desired length. If her hair is 2" long, you can start w/1.5" comb & go shorter if you wish. |

Some also use the #15 to trim ear flaps, this is used to trim poodle paws. Do you have the rechargable Arco Wahl? Mine hasn't been working right either...it actually nicked my guys last time I used it. I'm guessing the blade needs to be replaced & maybe that's why they sell it separately...I might send it in to get sharpened. |

I use the Wahl P'Nut for ears and sanitary cut....it is quieter, and they are very small and easier to handle.....I am NOT a groomer tho....I just find these are easier for ME to handle around sanitary area and ears....and they work well between toes too.... |

If you need any info as to where to send in your blades, PM me. Quote:
The Wahl P'Nut is great! I have a different one by Wahl that uses batteries, but it's old & the blade needs to be replaced...it's a 40 blade. |
