How should I get my yorkie's hair cut....???
 
Button is 4 months old and has a grooming appointment tomorrow morning.
I need advice on how to get it cut. She looks like a little fur ball, her hair makes her look full. It's getting warmer outside and my husband thinks we should shave it like a "terrier" I would love to have it grow long but not right now. I've searched online and there's sooo many ways you can have their haircut. Lol
I am scared to go too short. Advice please!!!!

I like the puppy cut, but left longer! I like a little length and a bit of skirt w/ fluffy legs. Teeka has the beginnings of a puppy cut. She will be 8 months next week so her hair is still growing!

i use to give jem lion cuts, long hair under the knees shaved back and body and long hair on the face..:)

I'm really nervous!! Lol my husband wants her close to shaved, no long hair on the legs or back just around the face. What would be good for that? Is that a puppy cut? Btw I really like the way your cutie looks but button is only 2lbs also so does that make a difference on the way the cut looks??

Please pray my baby does good and comes home looking good! I have to take her at 7:15am for her appt. =] I am excited and nervous. I think I am going to go with a puppy cut.

a puppy cut is not shaved. a puppy cut is like a neat and even shag. like how a puppy looks. shortish but enough hair to move with the brush.:)

puppy cut will look good , i think..:)

Teri, this is a terrific link! Thanks so much! I have been wondering where I might be able to see the variety of Yorkie cuts in one place. Princess Sophie and I both thank you!!!

Teeka weights 3 1/2 pounds......Max has a short cut all over and her looks cute with it. It just depends on what you prefer! If you don't like it, let it grow and try another style!

Well we just got home! I have to say I was super nervous to see her but I really love the cut!! I do see a few areas where it's longer or they missed. Is that normal with little puppies? Overall I do love the hair cut!! =] she looks so small without all that hair. I will post pics soon! And she made so many new friends there also which was a plus!

Brilliant link, I have searched for yorkie cutsmand only ever found the one site, the one with mostly snauzer and crested type cuts.

not sure what you mean? should it be different? she is may first yorkie and this was her first hair cut. before she was a little wavy before the cut but not much.

ohh ok, i only had 1 puppy, his hair was thick and shaggy, when he got older it got straight. they must all be different.. she is soooo cute lol:)

They did a great job! she is adorable!! I just got mine groomed yesterday, and they got butchered.......I should have known better, that groomer is really nice and good with the dogs, but is always in a hurry and does NOT listen when I tell her what I would like.

Oh no sorry to hear that!! This was my first time to use this groomer but she was very patient and really listened to everything I said I wanted. =] the only thing I didn't like was she left her tail hair really long and personally I am not a fan so I trimmed it myself and she looks really good.

Crystal, My Molly has hair exactly like your baby. Not curly just wavy really. I am getting ready to take her for her first gooming and am nervous too. She is only 3.2 lbs and 6.5 months old. I love the cut they did for you and only hope Molly's comes out as good.

Your baby is adorable! :) I think the groomer did a very nice job. She looks like she has a nice coat. Puppy hair can be difficult to deal with.

I agree, it really is a great link. I printed off a copy to show my groomer when Sophie's hair gets longer. :D

I asked my groomer that same question on my 5month old yorkie and she said she did not recomend that she get groomed until she was at least 7 months. 😞 and my tequila is a little fur ball also it was more for me than her jejeje ... So we will wait till mid summer fir her first cut.
