What to use? Good Morning all! I have been using Pet Silk shampoo and conditioner on the furkids for a few years now. I LOVE how it makes their coats soft and shiny and they smell good for over a week. I was using the rainforest scent. In the winter their skin gets so dry and itchy so I tried the oatmeal shampoo and conditioner..,.....not a fan of it. Would like to try something else. Any suggestions? I need to order some now as they all needs baths. Thank you! |
just a bump |
For dry and itchy skin, I think it will take more than a change of hair products. I would consider a fish oil supplement and organic coconut oil diet supplement. If I recall correctly, you said before that your ltitle ones turned up their noses at fish oil. I recommended the brand I sell -- Animal Essentials -- because dogs seem to love the taste, including my guys. Dogs also like Nordic Naturals. Everyone seems to love coconut oil. Make sure the water you use in the bath isn't too hot, which can dry out skin. Rinse shampoo really, really well. Residue will lead to itchy, flaky skin. For products, I like: Bio-Groom Pet Silk Les Poochs ($$$, but super conditioning) Coat Handlers (very mild) Isle of Dogs Vellus There are more that I'm sure I am leaving out. |
I use Pet Silk and Bio Groom and switch off. |
What Maximo said; plus consider adding some water into their food. If yours are anything like mine, he loves to lie over the heating vent. Plus get a very heavy duty conditioner and leave it in for 15 minutes. Also try massaging the argon oil or even the coconut oil directly into their skin |
Thank you! Yes...you are right! 2 of the 3 will not touch their food with the fish oil on it. I am going to try the coconut oil what kind do you recommend? |
