stinky between baths... Anyone have this problem? Jed gets kinda stinky about 4 days after his bath. Smells kinda like dirt & pee? Around his face is the worst. I wash his face, feet, belly and bum twice a day but still...Also, after his daily brushing I spray him with a "cologne" (dog stuff from petsmart) Makes it not as bad but its still there. He has some allergies and I really don't want to bathe him more than once every 7 days. Any suggestions? Helpful hints? Thanks |
Are you sure it is his face that is stinking and not his ears? Or his mouth? If you are washing his face 2 times a day, I don't understand why it would stink. If it could be his ears or his mouth, he may have an infection or abcess. |
Joey's breeder recommended leaving on a little pee string to guide the urine away from them so that they won't pee on their tummies or coats, it works very well for my two, and no pee smells ever. Their beards can get a little stinky, but a washcloth takes care of that. Are you sure they don't have any anal gland problems, it's will look poufy in the anal area and it will smell bad. Ear problems like yeast infections can stink too. Don't ignore odors; they may be a symptom of a deeper problem. |
A good refresher spray is Yorkie Sheen. I use it in between baths on my girls plus its a detangler! |
Has his teeth been checked lately? Our Bella had an odor about her and it turned out that she needed a tooth pulled. |
Positive its not ears (had that before...yuck) Not glands, or teeth (he has beautiful teeth):D Breath is kinda stinky but still...its not that. He's belly is shaved and he does have a pee string. Thinking its his allergies. He itches alot even with his meds. Mostly around his neck area. Tried the yorkie splash & shine stuff and loved it but it didn't take care of his itches. LOVED the smell and the way his hair felt after using it though! May go back to it if he is gonna just itch anyway...oh well...thanks for the replies. Will ask the vet when we go for our check up. Otherwise he is one happy, healthy baby of mine! :yorkieboy::wub: *was smelling him today and it's really more of a musty smell?.... |
