Problem with SnapIn Bows Khaleesi's hair thinned out after her bout with Coccidia (or perhaps the cure) and so I never bothered with a topknot. Now she could use one, but her hair is so thin and silky, few things will stay in. Someone suggested the SnapIn Bows and they really do stay in, but Khaleesi is tearing and breaking off what little hair she has trying to get it off! I know she's not used to it (she's almost 5 months old now) and for a while she didn't even know she had it in, but eventually it moved or something and then she started digging at it. I went ahead and took it out because I was afraid she'd rip her hair out if I didn't. Suggestions? |
I would start with leaving the bow in a little at a time. Maybe help her get used to it. Have you used scrunchies? Maybe if she got used to them first the bow would be better. With the scrunchies I don't think her hair would break when she tried to get it out. |
I put my bows in when I have set aside time to be strictly with the baby. I put the bow in and then I am with her totally, while the bow is in her hair, distracting her with what she and I are doing, usually up in my arms, rather than giving her time to concentrate on that bow! This seems to work withy my babies, and if they start worrying with the bow, they are in my arms and I can distract them. I never leave my baby's bows in unless I am with them....I dont know if everyone lets them run around the house with bows in their hair....I wish I could dress my girls up every morning and let them scoot around the house all day, all girlied up....aint happening with the RHG! They would be tearing off dresses and eating bows! |

I was hoping she would wear a bow to the family Christmas gathering, so I was trying to get her used to it. :D But, she needs to get used to something to keep her strings out of her eyes. I would like to grow her hair out. So, I bought some of the orthodontic elastics, but again once she noticed it, she started digging at it and I cut it out. I think I will have to do as YorkieMom suggests and only put something in (that is easy and quick to remove) when she is in my lap so I can distract her. Scrunchies may suit that purpose (if I can keep them in at all). She got used to her collar and her little gown that way, so surely she can get used to this! Thank you all for the suggestions! |
I use the little girls terry bands/pony'o's in Jazi's top knot when she's not wearing a bow. She never messes with it (but Beaumont does) lol. |
