Grooming is a challenge 2 Attachment(s) My little guy is getting much bigger. We are still challenged when it comes to brushing out however as he sure doesn't like to be brushed on the underarms and feet. I think I have tried every tool recommended from brushes to combs and even went and got a set of small trimming clippers. Forget that, he freaks when I turn it on and bring it near him. I have been putting it on the grooming table turned on and giving him treats next to it, however I believe it is going to be a very very long process to get this little guy to fully cooperate with the whole grooming routine. ..sigh:( |
Is there a groomer near you that allows you to groom your own dog? Many times just having the dog in a strange environment will distract them enough to get the job done, and he'll learn that the clippers won't hurt him, etc. Maybe even a friend's or relative's house would work .... |
I had him to a groomer once and we basically held him very very tight to get his face done..lol.. I have a groomer who said she will come into the house in the next week or so and try to groom his face for me with the scissors. She said puppies are wiggly and sometimes it just takes time for them to get used to it..here's hoping she has better luck. She brings a partner with her so I will try to stand back and watch the masters. |
Mimi won't let me go near her arm pits or private area w/clippers. I need to trim them w/blunt nosed scissors. She will lie flat on her back on my lap for me to trim it. |
I just have to say, he is adorable! It's good to have the help of a groomer the first few times, to get them used to it, then with patience (and with some firmness) you will be able to continue on your own. Short sessions are good in the beginning, just one area at a time. It is a lot for a pup to withstand a full grooming, of an hour or so, all at once. Good luck. |
It takes them a bit to get used to it... But over time they will realize you aren't trying to murder them LOL. I hope the groomer has better luck and can give you some tips :) |
