My Annie won't keep a bow in her top knot! Miss Annie is 9 months old and her bangs stay in her eyes. Although they are not long enough to pull back completely, I still do as often as I can get her to cooperate. My problem is that she hates anything in her hair!!! She turns into a holy terror as soon as she gets down and starts rubbing her head in the pillows trying to get it out which in turn messes up her hair and makes her look a mess! lol I'm at a cross road, do I trim the bangs or will she ever get use to wearing a bow? I have looked at many pics, but haven't really seen anything with trimmed bangs that I like. Any suggestions? |
I am trying to remember back to when Roxie was at this stage and what I did to get over it (cause I really wanted her to have the top-knot). I believe that I would get her leash and put it where she could see it, fix her hair, give her a treat, scoop her up and take her outside for a long walk. There were always so many things for her to look at etc., outside that it would take her mind off of her hair. It seems like she let it stay in longer and longer each time until she didn't mind it anymore. She never tries to take it out anymore. She did have a groomer once that cut her brows (bangs) and it seems like it took forever for them to grow back out long enough to be caught up in the top knot. |
Oh yeah...I forgot, since her hair is not long enough yet I would try using something minimal like a baby barrett, or baby scrunchie. I had trouble getting the little latex no pull bands in and out without it getting tangled. |
This site has some great tips for getting a dog use to wearing bows and topknots. Top-Knot How To's - The Diva-Dog Bowtique. It suggests starting just with a band and when you add a bow, start with the baby bows that are single looped bows that aren't very heavy. Make sure sure you aren't putting the band in too tight, your dog should be able to feel the band. Also, this site shows how to put a double band in to lock the bow in place. |
I think it's an individual thing... I've never put a Bow on Sneakers, but, Becca doesn't mind it at all. Could it be that you may be pulling a strand or two of hair to tightly, where it seems like a fleabite...like that ? |
