I do not understand the freak out over washing a dog in the kitchen sink, maybe its just me. The dishes that are rinsed off there have food on them (food poisoning?),your hands are washed there (just think of all of the things that they touch),used to wash my children in the sink and they poop too. Maybe I amm just missing something. |
I have always used the sink for Louie, it is soo much easier than the tub, no bending over. |
Jilly hated, hated, hated the tub so I haven't tried it with Tibbe. Tibbe does so well in the sink, I hate to change a thing for fear he would lose his calm love of the whole process. It really zones him out to have a bath. Course he's a wild man afterward, rolling all around, wallowing on the towels to dry and running, running, running outside but during his bath, it's like he's had a shot of tranquilizer or something. Closes his little eyes & just leans like he's so relaxed he can't stand up. Wish my hurried showers did that for me!!! So I'm scared to change a thing. |
I washed my morkie in the tub. I have a showerhead that is also a sprayer. I don't think he would fit in the sink. He was well behaved. Since it was his first bath with us, and I was nervous the tub was best. Yea my back ache a little, but no more than it does when I wash my kiddos at bath time. |
I have a baby bathtub that I use in the big bathtub. This helps to keep the mess down in the big tub at least but I hate the bending over and after 2 baths and groomings, I'm in pain. I keep saying that I'm going to try the laundry room sink but I've always got laundry and stuff all around it. lol I also have everything set up in the guest bathroom as far as for grooming so it's just easier to do it all in there. |
I use the sink for all of mine. They all stand perfect and I do not have to hold them. And I agree no bending down. I to have people that think it's gross. But I always clean my sink well. And my dishes usually all go in the dishwasher. I think the more you do it the better they get. Sounds like Brody loves the water if he is laying down in it :) |
Some ideas for bathing in the tub. Get a long hose with a sprayer, and attach it to your shower head. They sell them in the pet stores. Now do what show folks do; you can place upside down a large portable tub, which raises the height and place a non slip mat on it. then your dog. You won't have to bend so much. I also use old towels along the floor as I can inadvertently splash water over them. Luckily I have a nice laundry sink, very deep, but still I raise up with a portable tub so I don't have to bend so far for Razzle Until I get my pro bathing tub installed in the laundry room; here is how I wash Magic in our bath tub. I climb in with him, and to do his legs I sit down, spray wet him, shampoo and wash legs, I to his back and rear standing. With a Yorkie you can place him between your legs and wash, rinse, condition, etc. Shouldn't be too hard on your back I'm thinking. I also have of course a slip free mat down in the tub. Happy washings! |
Tub! Toki is too tall for our sink although I miss the spray nozzle. We just had a bath this morning and for the first time ever, she just stood in the tub and let me shampoo and condition her without trying to claw her way up my arm and out of the tub! Woohoo!!! She is 10 months and I had been giving her a bath every week/other week as needed which was just a miserable time for both of us. When she just stood still today, we finished so much more quickly (less stress on both of us) and my clothes were not completely soaked and I didn't have to call for back up! Anyway, definitely we prefer the tub just because of Toki's size...I gotta look into getting a shower head attachment or something though! Easier than using a little plastic cup to rinse her! |
