bathing after neuter When can I give Bentley a bath. He was neutered Tuesday. My vet told me no bathing for 7 -10 days. I just checked his incision and it is all scabbed over. We leave for our week long camping trip this afternoon and I would like all the furbutts to look and smell pretty!...how long did you all wait to bathe? |
I would totally wait. My concern would be that the scab could get soft and come off. Wouldn't want that to happen especially when you are going to be in a camping environment where he could get into some dirty situations... Perhaps some dry shampoo? |

I'd wait... getting stitches wet makes them disolve early, so you could end up with an open wound... |
Definitely wait. You could just kind of spot wash his fur with a dampened washcloth and a little shampoo on it. I'd avoid the area altogether until completely healed. |
While the stitches are in and everything, keep him clean ! no dirty walks, no baths until the wound is completily healed and the stitches are gone. Don't let him play outside when it's wet or in the dirt etc., it can cause infection SO easily. I know it's soo hard to ban the pup to play outside with the others etc., but it's for his own safety :) Just play lots with him inside instead, play tug-of-war or let him find toys and treats around the house. |
Hi all! well...we are camping right now with all the furbutts...I gave the girls baths and Bentley just got a spray of cologne...He healed VERY quickly...today makes day six.. I usually give them all baths when we get home. He has been outside with his fursisters in an x-pen with astro turf on the ground. His incision looks GREAT! we didn't take them for a short walk last night. but, as I said, everything looks great...the only day there was a little redness was the day he was done and the next day...I am really surprised have quickly he healed...the girls took longer than that,...what ever...I'm happy about it!
