Andis clippers
 
Hi all am looking for some advice on clipper blades. I have purchased an Andis clipper which came with a 10 blade and combs. I want to do a puppy cut in my girls and was told 3 3/4 blade is best for this. However I have seen a 3/4 blade on line for long coats and wondered what you experienced groomers think would be best. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am familiar with the Andis clippers. I prefer the number 7 blade for the body work. Andis UltraEdge Clipper Blade Size 7 | PetEdge.com

I use a 7 finish blade on my Andis clippers for the body. I go with the hair growth first and then against the growth to smooth. It gives a perfect summer cut.

4F would be great for silky hair & 5F for those w/cottony thicker hair followed by the 7F which will give them a smooth not too shaved down look. Just remember that: the higher the # (on the blade) the shorter the cut.

Maybe you could try snap on combs. I guess it depends how short you want to go....I use either a 1" or 3/4" inch snap on comb. I think you can use that on a #10. It would be cheaper than buying a new blade. And you could get a set and play around with the length you want. I personally like to start a little longer and then do more if needed. Starting a bit longer takes away the shock of, "oh my goodness, what did I just do to my dog's hair?!!?" when you are first beginning to groom.

I used a 7 on my Andis but have moved on to a more inexpenaive and durable brand.
I love Andis but I've went through too many if them.
Hope it works for you bit if it doean't I've found the oster power max is great clipper heads are innerchangable.

Like this Idea. The clippers came with combs I forgot about them. Will dig them out and save some money :)

Thanks. The girls are 6 months do still have puppy hair. Don't want it too short so will try the 1" comb that came with clipper but will keep these in mind for their big girl coats.

I use 7# on Fido when I cut him :) And I use 10# on the ears.
I really like it, I use some cheap Andis but it's good enough for me.

I looked at this one but having bought full size andis the peanut was a bit expensive here. I just bought a wahl trimmer for ears and sanitary. It's a bit louder than the Andid but a good neat size.
