Should I say anything new Groomer prehaps 1 Attachment(s) Took George to groomer today pleased with overall style but she nicked his foot and the nail cut is long what do you think, should I go somewhere else next time:( |
OMG... Yes ! No question, totally unacceptable.... The angel of the nail is totally wrong, it looks like a hack job and what in the hell was she doing that she cut his paw like that. Thats just crazy. Did she bring the cut to your attention when you picked him up? |
No it was only when I got home I noticed it, I will ring her in the morning and let her know I am not happy with the way she treated my baby. Thanks for your opinion, it is how i felt as well but thought I might be over reacting, but then again if I went to hair dresser or beautician and got cut I wouldn't be happy either. |

Take care! |
I would definitely be looking for new groomer! I can do a better job of cutting nails and I don't even know how to do so. I take mine to get their nails and anal glands done every month. I would have thought that she/he would have been professional enough to tell you that your baby had been nicked. Definitely go somewhere else. Good luck. |
Hi I have a George too:) I will tell you it took us 3 groomers to find the right one:) I think you should definitely find someone else. I don't even think she trimmed his nails. Maybe she realized she cut him and then didn't trim his nails because of it. She should have absolutely told you! |
Hi, I am so sorry the groomer did this to your baby. Wow, what was he/she thinking? Foolish as well not bringing it to your attention. I hope you get an apology when you call (and even a refund). |

I found a diagram that explains the nails a bit better: |

Rang her this morning and she said she didn't even realise she had cut him and also that his nails were so long that she didn't cut them shorter because of the quick, and she also said he's quite a fidget and hard to handle. Funny thing is the backnails are a perfect length and also George spent ages licking his sore foot last nite. As to him being a fidget I have no trouble brushing him, he just stands still and waits, I can even turn him upside down and brush his tummy fluffies. No apology forthcoming from her, so now I'm going to have to find another groomer again or learn to do it myself would be better and cheaper as she charged me $63.00:eek: |
Alright those nails the two mid ones are very long. Have you not been trimming the nails yourself? I would suggest you try that, and see how your dog is for nail trimming. I'm so sorry you were less than happy, and I do agree with other posters to find another groomer. |

Just brought a good quality pair of nail clippers, I'll wait till next week first and then try clipping them myself, it's really just the 2 middle claws on each front foot that are too long still, a little each few days should work till I get them respectable. Thanks for your opinions and help once again. Have yourselves a good weekend. |

If you dont feel comfortable trimming his nails you may want to watch the videos in the grooming thread on how to do it before diving right in and I hope your little ones wound heals fast. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ons-video.html |
I'm fairly bad at keeping up with Jackson's nails, so I know it's my fault when they can't go terribly short, but our groomer has always done a really good job with the nails and they always look good (they just grow back fast). We have been using a mobile groomer for over a year now... and was always very happy with her. She gave him his best hair cut he had ever had on her first visit out. I loved it. So kept using it. One time though she gave him a horrible hair cut around his face, it was much too short, and she also nicked him on his 'flaps' around his belly area. I was disappointed, that she didn't tell me, so I emailed her and told her and showed her a picture... she was sorry and gave me a free groom the next time around - but I still gave her $20 (she usually charges $55). I was going to stop using her, and tried another mobile, but she wasn't as good IMO. She did a good job and all, but I wasn't as happy with the cut. So we went back to the groomer who nicked him once - she hasn't done it since, and is a really nice person who I know treats him well and I understand mistakes happen and I know Jax is probably very squirmy in there. If it happens again, and she doesn't tell me, I'd probably stop using it. but so far it's been a one time thing... so I will continue to use her. |
For the most part, I do all of Jack's grooming, except twice a year I take him to the groomer - once in the spring for his summer cut and once at the end of summer (around August) so he can have one last shave down before fall/winter. I bathe him typically every week (or my husband will). We bought a Pedi Paws because to me, it was much easier than the nail clippers (he had one of his nails cut way too short when he was a puppy - on two different occasions and bled both times so he is very sensitive when it comes to clipping nails) but this is how I keep his nails trimmed and not out of control. Be cautious when clipping the nails - start with just the very tips and take off small portions of the nail. Once you start seeing a bit of white (looks almost like a white circle) stop as you will be getting close to the quick. If by chance you hit the quick and it starts bleeding, I have heard that you can use a bit of flour (yes, the dry kind that you use in baking) or a bit of bar soap to help stop the bleeding. Good luck! |
Ok this is an update.;) Brought a pair of nail clipper and I've trimmed his nails shorter, not the best but for a first time I'm pleased, will give it another go in a couple of weeks. George was a good boy and didn't wriggle too much but a firm hand was essential, no more groomers for my boy. Thanks for all the tips and instrucions on nail clipping. |

Finding A Groomer I live in NW Houston. I have been researching groomers since I got Zachary a month ago. I have found much negative posted about every groomer in the area except one. I called to make an appointment last week and the only appointment they have in June is the 29th so I snatched it up. Even my vet said all their clients rave about this place! Now I have to figure out how to keep Zachary going till then. His fur is so easily matted at this length. Louise |
