growing out a cotton coat Hi Guys! My beautiful Chloe has a cotton coat which is on the curly side. I know that it would be easiest to keep her cut short but I adore her with longer hair. What I am wondering is if there are products that can help to grow her coat and help to reduce the waves? Also does anyone else have a Yorkie with curls? They arent super curly more on the very wavy side. Did your Yorkie ever "grow out of" the curls and get straighter? Thanks for any advice you can offer. Oh and I have order Cowboy Magic to help reduce matting :) |
I tried growing Prada's but she got SUPER hot in the summer and it did not matter what i used she still matted, so i had her cut not so short during the winter and short in the summer, her coat grows curly and thick like a weed.. here's Prada with Longer hair.. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...ture005-10.jpg and Prada with her winter cut.. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/IMG_9855.jpg and Prada with Short hair.. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...rada/027-1.jpg |

I have a soft coated yorkie too. Super thick, but not curly. More wavy than anything. He'll be 4 soon and his coat is a dense and kinky as it was at 12 months old. I do love keeping his face/beard a little longer than his body which allows me the joy of a topknot. His face hair is a lot more manageable than his body hair. That I keep short because no matter what I try his hair matts. It's painful for him to be brushed out twice a day. When I became more about me, than what was good for him, that's when I knew I had to cut his hair. It wasn't worth it. |
4 Attachment(s) My Ruby is a cotton coat, cut because she is so curly. I never really gave it much time to completely grow out. I got tired of the big fuzz ball and all of the tangles/matting. So, I keep her in a modified Schnauzer cut. I keep her sides, legs, chest and bottom long. I shave her neck, back and tail. I cut her head in a medium cut, not too short. You can So to answer your question...You can see in photos 3 & 4 that her sides are straight. But it was taken right after a grooming. So she has been combed out. So yes, I think if you gave it time it would grow out. I only gave Ruby 18mo before I gave her a new look and I love it, she is so darn cute that way! #1 and #2 are at 1 yr. old (8-16-10) #3 and #4 are at 1yr 9mo old (5-16-11) |
