Puffball hair problem! Luma has a longish nose..not the "teddybear" look. The fur around her nose is sooo poofy and it makes her look like a schnauzer..I've had people give me skeptical looks when I say she is a yorkie! :( When are these stubborn hairs gonna lay flat?! I don't want to cut them..and her eyebrows are just as bad. They're too short to brush up into a topknot but they won't lay flat. She looks kinda crazy. Eventually we will be going for a long coat. I know it'll take a long time, but when is she gonna get past this awkward phase? |
As soon as the hair gets a little length to it , it's weight will help straighten it and help it to lay correctly... be patient....:D |
The people who are skeptical that Luma is a yorkie probably don't know much about yorkies or what they should look like when they are pups. Luma is a darling girl. :) Maximo looked like a funny little muppet until he was about 10-11 months old. I loved the look. :p Hair growth depends on the yorkie and breeding lines, and quality of coat. Cotton coats tend to grow really fast, but some yorkies with gorgeous silk can produce a full coat by one year. As KJC said, be patient. Enjoy the funny, "awkward," stage. |
She totall looks like the perfect yorkie, I say this because she looks alot like mine!! LOL!! Those people are crazy |
Yup, I agree with the above members! Luma is pure Yorkie! Anyone who can't see it either needs eyes checked or isn't familiar with the breed. Terra's puppy hair is crazy cute too. Old man eyebrows and fluff nose that hides her eyes sometimes :) We just have perfect baby girls with perfect crazy hair :) |
Just give it time.... it wont happen over night. This is the perfect age to start the grooming process to get her use to being brushed and start teaching her her sit, stand cammands if you plan on having her groomed or groomer her youself. You might want to I start by useing a soft cat brush or a small bristtle brush. Grooming is a big part of owning a Yorkie. |
She is still very young. It's going to be a while before she out grows the difficult stage. Don't trim her if you are wanting her to have a topknot and long coat. I know it's hard because as her fur is growing it's going to get pretty shaggy. |
They say with human hair if you want it to grow faster you should get it trimmed every once in a while to get rid of the dead ends. Should I do this for Luma so her hair grows faster? Are there any supplements that are safe for her to take to promote shiny hair and fast growth? |
I don't know what you are feeding her but she should be getting Omega 3 in her diet. It is very good for the skin and coat. Some dog foods have it already in the food but supplements are available. Just make sure she is old enough and get the right dosage for her. |
