Hair in the eyes? I hope this is in the right area, I tried to search for the topic but couldn't find any, then again I've been up all night with a sick toddler so maybe I did it wrong, If i did I'm sorry! Anyways! Bentley is 15 weeks today I bathe him every week my question is i'm letting his coat grow up but the hair around his eyes seem to be in the way of him seeing and get in his eyes sometimes causing them to tear up. Will this hair grow to lay down flat? Should i cut it? I tried to trim the fur on his feet and he's not to happy about that so i have no clue how he would do with the eye hair getting trimmed unless i let him pass out on my bed and do a sneak attack. LOL Do i need to worry? or will it grow to lay down? Thanks! |
Don't cut it, I made that mistake and it just takes that much longer to grow out. When it gets long enough you can put the band further down the forehead, and it will catch some of the stray hairs, and there are various topknot gels that you can buy and are safe for dogs. I use Petsilk topknot gel, rub a little in your palm to soften, and dab it on the stray hairs. If you cut it you have to do it weekly, and I think it can make tearing worse, probably because there's always some short hair poking them in the eye. Definitely don't cut it! It will eventually lie flat and you won't have to worry about it. |
