Is it ok to ask to stay with Princess during grooming at a new place? Or should I just ask to wait there so she doesn't get crated? She's terrified of the groomers, this one she's never been fully groomed at but I think she was traumatized at another terrible groomers business. Of course I'm paranoid, too, that something will go wrong-but I don't want to offend the new shop. I wrote a detailed (negative) review about the last groomer which apparently got around town. The new biz knows about it & we discussed it before so maybe they'll understand my fears.:confused: I've been grooming Princess myself, but I've got to face it-I need help before the clothing season is over.:p What's appropriate to ask/request without being offensive in your opinion? |
Recently, I walked into a grooming salon here after someone recommended the place. I showed up unannounced to check it out and talked to the groomer. I liked what I saw, but I asked her if I could stay and watch the groom, and she said yes, but scheduled it on a weekday afternoon. I ended up needing to cancel the appointment, but my friend took her yorkie instead and really was thrilled with the service and with the way the groomer handled her dog and the fact that she could stay and watch. I would absolutely ask if you could stay. Good luck! |
I love my groomer, but I still won't leave my pups there. She has no problem with me sitting there. I don't hover over her and I let her handle my pups as she needs to. If a groomer is uncomfortable with the owner being there, I believe that is a concern. If they know what they are doing they should not have a problem with it....that is as long as there is an understanding that the owner does not interfere. |
i am a groomer and i have no problem with the owners staying and watching. i am not rough handling dogs so i have nothing to be afraid of them seeing. the only thing i ask is that they don't speak with the pet and try to stay out of sight for some. I do this is the best interest of their pet as they tend to get very bouncy and are always trying to run to mom or dad when they see them and i feel it is dangerous while i am working with sharp instruments but this is just my opinion. but to your question if the groomer says no then i would ask why first to see what their reasoning is and probably be concerned they dont want me to see something. |
I too love my groomer and she doesn't mind if I stay. Honestly, I would wonder what was going on if they didn't allow me to stay. Maybe if you explain her fear of the groomer and your concerns they will be very understanding of your situation. |
Should be no problem at all- I would be worried about leaving mine at a groomer who said no. I would tell them ahead of time though because they may schedule you at a less hectic time so you dont need to stand around as long. |
