Shampoo Suggestions I have Bella in one hand and typing with the other, so please excuse typos. :) I am using "Crazy Dog"'s Baby Dog shampoo. It's been 3 days since her last shower and she still smells like baby powder, which I like. The bad news is that it seems to be drying her hair out (still has just puppyfuzz as she is only just 3.5 months). I'd like to get her started on the best of the best but don't know what that is. thanks!!:) please include full regimen IE separate conditioners, detanglers etc.:) |
I have used numerous shampoos/conditioners. I like the Chris Christensen systems and Yorkie Splash and Shine. I love Yorkie Sheen as a detangler. The Yorkie Splash and Shine seems to hold its scent longer than the others I have used. I like Minksheen during the summer months as well. We use Biogroom Oatmeal Shampoo and Silk Creme conditioner most of the time. The conditioner has saved my boys' coats from destruction. :) We also like: Chris Christensen shampoo and conditioner Espree Show Dog Shampoo (Petco) Isle of Dogs Pet Silk Vellus I use a little bit Pet Silk silk serum for detangling. It adds a nice shine too. I like Vellus anti-stat for brushing. Many people here love Chris Christensen Ice on Ice. Many people like Cowboy Magic for detangling. Or simply corn starch (apply dry to dry hair). Anything that gives the hair a little "slip" to help detangle. I use a comb with a steel tail to carefully detangle, an ISINIS brush (Amazon), pin brushes (nothing with balls on the tips to damage hair), and steel combs. |
I use the espree also and love it |
Thanks everyone! We got the Crazy Dog from Petco, and while I like that the smell seems to last ..and last, I don't like what it's doing to her puppyfuzz. I think I will try the Chris Christensen since it's been used by more than one person and seems to be good. Thank you again for the suggestions, and the links (that helped a lot). :) |
Yorkie Splash & Shine is #1 on my list. Love the long lasting soft fragrance and Toby's hair likes it too. I've tried others and end up going back to YS&S. WalnutHill is on YT and she sells it. If you ask her, she might send you a sample. You won't regret it. I've had Toby for two years and that is the only shampoo and conditioner I use on him. |
We use: Chris Christensen Day-to-Day shampoo and conditioner BioGroom Protein Lanolin shampoo and Silk Conditioner from Bio-Groom Yorkie Splash and Shine. For detangling: Chris Christensen Ice on Ice; Yorkie Splash and Shine Detangling Sheen For shine: Bio-groom Mink Oil or Madan Brilliant Sheen Spray We tried, and do not care for, Minksheen shampoo or PEK conditioner but these products are widely enjoyed by other YT members. Hope this helps :) |
I use Coat Handlers Dog Shampoos and Conditioners - Coat Handler - Cherrybrook Have tried most but always come back to this. Leaves coat silky and smelling fresh. |
Thanks for all the suggestions! Really helpful for a newcomer such as I. |
I use pet silk shampoo and conditioner...they smell really good for days...very soft shiny hair...however...I have to order it on line...not pet store (no puppies sold there!) around me sells it...doesn't take very long to get it though |
hey gang I've been using Kiehls Dog Shampoo on Chewbacca. His hair comes out clean and soft and with a terrific sheen. I •Mild, soap-free shampoo effectively removes dirt, debris, and odor. •Gentle enough for dog’s coat, face, and skin. •Blends Chamomile Flower Extract with efficacious and gentle cleansing ingredients. •pH-balanced formula will leave coat and skin clean with a light and refreshing lavender scent. •Ideal for big and small, long- or short-haired dogs. Here is a link to the product - Cuddly-Coat Grooming Shampoo - Kiehl's Since 1851 |
We love Minksheen, I buy it direct from [url]www.touchofmink.com they have specials occassionally. Their people products are great too! |
Wonderful information (as usual), thank you very much.:) |
