Growing out nose hair... going to try this again.. I groom Taycie myself, and I have always kept hair on her nose but I trim it rather short. I love the look with it grown out and I know she would look so cute with it. So.... I am testing my willpower not to cut it and let it grow!!!!!!!! I did try petsilk topnot gel a really long time ago and at the time I wasn't super excited about it. I just don't like her face looking greasy. But I decided to give it another try and surprisingly I think I might like it!! Any other tips you have while growing it out??? Products you liked? And... I am going to hide my scissors from myself! LOL! |
Use just any conditioner (for dogs), put a little bit (not much) on the hairs that are going into the eyes. Thats what I did :D Works well ! I do this every day right now, I'm growing out Fido's nose hairs too ! :) The conditioner also makes the coat grow a little bit faster I think, I put once a day conditioner on his topknot also and I think it helps the coat, I also spray it over the bodycoat ! just everywhere, cause I want him with longer more beautiful coat :) Well I don't use just pure conditioner, I mix about 1 part conditioner against 2 part water, put it in a little spray bottle and spray over the coat, I also use that mixture if I wrap him (only part that I wrap on Fido is his topknot, when its long enough I wrap it, and when his bodycoat will get long enough I'll wrap it too). Good luck !! This is fast to grow out, DON'T CUT !! :P |
Great! I like the idea of conditioner! Taycie is so sensitive and I am using a special shampoo/conditioner I got from my vet that seems to work well for her allergies. I did put the Petsilk top knot gel on this morning and I think it slightly irritating her so I washed it off. But the Conditioner is a perfect idea for us! Thanks! I haven't cut yet!!!! |

Growing out Bogey and Pebbles hair on their nose was the best thing I have ever done. Their eyes are so clean now and it's finally laying well too. Tough it out and hide the scissors. Mine will never have short nose/eye hair again. It's funny because when I first told my groomer I wanted to grow it out she thought I was crazy. She insisted their eyes would be dirty and I stood my ground. But I have to say it did take forever!!!!!! |
When you get the urge to cut it............look for support from us former short eye hair peeps. ;) We will talk you down off that cliff! :D |

I did try the conditioner route tonight, rather then the topknot gel. I will say I like it better.. It doesn't look greasy and it keeps the hairs poking her little eyes... Yes, I am a hairstylist. This is testing all my willpower. I can do this, I can do this, I can do this.... LOL!:)!!! |

Good that its working better with the conditioner :) ! I'm glad that I could help ! :) |
Trimmed Taycie yesterday, and bathed her as well. I did NOT touch her nose! It is in a very weird stage, not really laying down just poking all over the place. The conditioner route has been a life saver I can't wait for this part to be over... How long does this normally take to grow out? |
I would love the answer to this as well....I am growing out Trixie's nose hair and topknot but the hair near her eyes is driving me crazy....I even tried using lanolin but it makes her face greasy looking....will try conditioner tomorrow. I hope this growing out phase moves quickly. |
