How to remove yeast from their eyes??? Hi! Maya has yeast build up occasionally and even that I bath her and rinse her face well, I still find those little brownish yeast build ups near her eye. I also clean her eyes with warm cloth every second day. How can I remove it completely? |
I have read several threads on eye boogies. My understanding is that there is not one thing inparticual that will make them go away. Some people have tried diet change and it has helped. There is a product called "Angel Eyes" but,if I read correctly,it is just an antibiotic type substance that is sprinkled on your dogs food everyday, but keeping antibiotics in anyones system is not a good thing. So every morning I wash my face and then I wash Mina's. This is the best thing that I have found. I have had poodles most of my life and they ALL have had this problem. |
I been using a product called Calm eyes for years now with my dogs, I started cleaning the outside of the eye twice a day and as it got better I am down to once every two weeks , I am very happy with this product.:) Calm Eyes | Pet Supplies, Horse Supplies, Dog Supplies | KVsupply.com |

I am right there with you. There is another thread going right now about eye boogies and the suggestions were bottled water and a diet change. I have asked if that means filtered water and what diet changes are suggested. Maybe between your thread and the other on. Some answers will be found. I dont mind washing Minas eyes every morning but it cannt be good for dogs to have this all of the time. |

I just posted this in a very similar thead so I am just going to copy and paste what I wrote... I started really to battle tear stains when Taycie turned a year. I tried countless different foods, different products for staining and NOTHING was working. She was also battling other allergy symptoms as well. Finally after discussing everything with my vet we decided to put her on Royal Canin Rabbit and Potato. FINALLY, we are tear stain free. I really believe this food did the trick, I was also at the point that maybe it was just genetics I was battling but now I know it wasn't. Her face looks amazing right now! I have always used bottled water, and I really like the Gerber Water for babies. I buy it at Walmart for 1.00 a gallon. I also have prescribed eye drops that my vet put Taycie on. Because of her allergies, she likes me to put these in her eyes after being outside. I would discuss with your vet your options and his/her recommendations before putting anything in the eyes. I am glad I did! I was hesitant to try anything like Angel Eyes, as it has a low grade antibiotic in it. I didn't feel comfortable using this. |

You must of misunderstood what I was saying. I do think that washing their face everyday is good. I was stating that having eye boogies in their eyes all of the time could not be good for them. However I do not use a cotton ball because of the possibility of fibers getting into Mina's eyes. I dont remove my eyemakeup with one for the same reason. I use a wash cloth on Mina's eyes and face. But that would be a personal choise and you should use what you are comfortable with. |
