I need help with dandruff like residue I just bathed Chloe today. she has dandruff all over her back, the more I comb the worse it looks. I really thought I rinsed her well. Is this common and is there something I need to be bathing her in to remove this? I use an all natural shampoo for dogs that is supposed to be good. :( I also feed her royal canin for yorkie's that has alot of oils for their coat as well as giving her a teaspoon of coconut oil in her food daily. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!! |
Joey's breeder told me that the number one reason for white flakes is not rinsing enough after shampooing. Rinse rinse rinse, and when you think you've done plenty, rinse some more. I do another minute after I think I'm done, and I set the timer. I warm the towel in the microwave during this time. Also, a good cream rinse/conditioner is important, as you are conditioning the skin as well as the coat. She recommended Bio-groom shampoos and conditioners, and if you email the company they will give you free samples. Bio-Groom - Exceptional Pet Care Products for Over 30 Years I feed Joey RC, and he has no flakey skin, but my little foster who eats Wellness has flaky skin, so I’m starting to use the shampoo and conditioner on him, and I’ll see if it helps. It's actually much easier to keep skin healthy than it is to fix, so it might take some time. |

Hope it clears up, and if it doesn't its possible there are allergies, and that’s always tricky to figure out what exactly is causing it, but usually you’ll see itching with allergies. By the way, Bio groom products are highly concentrated; make sure you dilute them with water per bottle directions. |

A vinegar rinse work well too......I used it on my poms. I rinse with the vinegar rinse then condition.....Use half & half water & white vinegar. |
