I don't think you have been too whiney, at all... You are doing a Lot better than I would have been doing!!!! :) Hoping she has a speedy healing. |
What is wrong with these people??? I was in Petsmart one day and saw a groomer jerking a little dog around and when she seen me watching, she stopped. I NEVER take mine to the groomers. That would have made me sooooo mad. That was totally uncalled for, and to boot, she does have enough hair over her ears to grow like you want. It takes time but it will grow. Kayla looks like she has 2 big pig tails. Your baby is darling. Mine act up when they are groomed some, but I keep a little jar of cherrios on hand and give them a cherrio when they act nice. lol!!! Get a book, and do it yourself. I use to groom years ago and yorkies are just not that hard to do. Oh, and don't forget the cherrios. lol!!!! |
Wow! What a mess! She is adorable regardless. She's probably picking up that you are upset... I get her and hold her on your lap and tell her how sorry you are that this happened to her, and that you still love her, and it won't ever happen again! And that you are not upset at her... Many folks just really don't like Yorkies. This fact alone can traumatize a sensitive Yorkie, imagine having to spend hours in a room with a Yorkie Hater! Poor Baby! With the cut being so uneven, and being around 'unfriendlies', she probably wasn't on her best behavior (who could blame her). Yeah, I think I'd have to get down there and get a refund, and tell them too, you'll be sending them the bill from the vet from where she was cut. Hugs to you both... |

**Update** Most importantly, Princess & I have reconciled.:love-hug1 I called the groomer & started off very pleasant, saying I wasn't happy with the haircut. She was rude, cold & completely argued with me about what I said to her. She said I told her to leave the ears & cut her face! When I reminded her that she told me Princess didn't have the coat to grow the long ears so deciding to trim them she cut me off again. Finally I had to interrupt her to ask her what she does for a customer that is very dissatisfied with her service. She said she cannot make the hair grow back, I can bring her in for the ear trim & she will knock FIVE dollars off the next groom! She said all of this like she could not be more annoyed. I thought it was pretty common for a business to usually have a "the customer is always right" attitude to keep them happy & coming back. Well I'm annoyed with myself. Being so flustered & floored by her rude response I didn't even state a fraction of my complaints. I ended up basically hanging up on her. She called me back & I sent it to voicemail. She said she wasn't sure if I was bringing her back for the trim:confused::rolleyes:...she doesn't deserve the courtesy of a return call so I wont be giving it. Heading over to give my review now... |
She is still just adorable :)! But OMG, I'd be SO PISSED off. For the vulva injury, I would def put triple-anti on there, and then just put in a call to your vet to discuss. I really doubt they'll have you come in, but at least you'll have the peace of mine of hearing them say "we see this a lot, it's minor, try the cream" - or whatev. So anyway, back to the pissed off part. I never understood why so many groomers ask you what you want done, and then do everything you asked them NOT to do. What the ? I'd especially be ticked about the eye hair  - it takes a long time for you to grow it out, and then she just chops it off. I'll briefly describe my experience w/ groomers . The first couple years w/ had Wylie, we did most of his grooming, but took him to a salon about 3 times. The first time, they told us they'd cut his quick while trimming his nails. His cut was a mess. The 2nd time - we went to a diff groomer, he was terrified when we dropped him off - I told them to be careful of cutting his quick. They cut it :(. The 3rd time, we tried yet again another groomer; when I picked him up, he was totally butchered beyond anything and terrified upon pick-up - I asked if they cut his quick, they said yes. We were done. For the next 2yrs, he would shake super badly whenever it was brushing time - it finally got better after 2yrs of being gentle during brushings. He has never gotten over the claw cutting issues; to this day (he is now 7) he goes berserk when we cut his claws....even tho me and Tony have never cut his quick. The look in his eyes when we cut his nails is just sheer, shell-shocked terror - my poor little man. He was just so traumatized by groomers :(. Also, how about those drying-boxes? Those seem just terrifying to me. What doggie wouldn't be scared by that, all alone in there? So anyway, we don't do groomers at all. Marcel and Pfeiffer have never (and will never) go to a groomer. It just doesn't work for us, and it's not the best thing for our furs. That said, I know there are really great groomers out there (some of them on this board), but I haven't found one on my own. Hang in there and give your baby lots of extra love - maybe it'll make her hair grow faster :D! |

And I'm so sorry about your baby's quick being cut, omgsh, that had to hurt so bad. Maybe she cut Princess's but never told me, as she flips out. I seriously cannot do it, not with two people holding her in a towel & a blanket! The last time I tried I think I saw stars as she head butted me so I had to call it quits! Lol, getting beat up by a yorkie. For nails I'll just pay double to take her to the vet. I know they're compassionate all of the time & have to be very skilled at holding a "wild" animal still. Her cut looks great, you can barely see it, there wasn't like flesh removed, but still, a paper cut hurts let alone something down there. Still putting trip. anti. on it. I was just sooo happy to wake up with her cuddled up to me today! |
OMG, how terrible! Shes beautiful no matter what but I am so upset for you about her beard. I mean, who the heck does that?!? |
 I would be Beyond Livid.... This is why I do all four of my babies MYSELF !! I WOULD GO TO THE VET, GET DOCUMENTATION OF HER CUT AND CONDITION AND THAN MAKE A TRIP TO THE (BBB). Not sure that they can help but sure worth a try. If not seek out a different way to get to the public eye on just how horrible this groomer and her way of dealing with an upset and dissatisfied customer etiquette is. |

ETA I see you already did a thread. Don't forget about http://www.yelp.com |
That is ridiculous! She looks absolutely precious but it's still the fact that she did not listen your instructions! WTF. I've actually been very lucky with groomers, thankfully. He only had 1 bad haircut when I tried a new place. But the first place I brought him to, I hated leaving him there, even though she did a pretty good job (though I never liked how she cut his ears). Even though I only had to leave him for 4hrs, I still did not like it. So I found a mobile groomer. I can peek thru the window sometimes and see how he is doing and she always does EXACTLY how I ask her to do it, and he's done within an hour in my own driveway. Maybe look into mobile for the next time? I cannot believe they would not refund you any money! |

I can't believe she refused to refund me either...or even apologize! She said next time I could write down what I wanted done. I should've never went back after going when Princess was a pup. Her hair was pretty wild & I told her I wanted it trimmed into a puppy cut. It was not matted at all. She shaved her down but I did end up liking it. It's just that once again she did not listen. She apparently went to grooming school & she doesn't know what she's doing, so I think with a little practice I can do it myself. If I screw up I don't have to worry about how uncomfortable Princess was or throwing money away. I'm going to use someone's genius idea of just clipping one or two nails a day & I'm sure I can get away with that. Time will tell.:) |
Like someone here once said, why should I pay a groomer to screw up my pup's hair when I can do it myself for free? LOL |

I'm sorry to hear about this :( I am new to this forum, and joined to see if I was at all out of line, because I just took my Yorkie to the groomer, and picked him up and he was shaved!! I have only had Bruno since February, and he is my 1st Yorkie, so I wasn't sure if this was normal or not...but he looks awful! :( |
Everytime I think about finding a groomer for Mina and the poodles. I read a thread like this and decide that nomatter what I have been doing,it is better than what someone else might do to one of them. I am more likely to not cut enough off but I can go back tomarrow and trim a little more until I get it like I want it. Because she is so young,I trim Mina's face while she is asleep in my lap. I've trimmed her paws this way as well. I am so sorry to read that you baby got such a bad haircut and got hurt too! People that dont love each dog that they groom should not be grooming them. I did grooming as a kid in my neighborhood. Each of those dogs were my friends. |
Her hair looked so much better before.... I just went though a bad grooming experience myself! |
Best time to 'get back' at a groomer is to wait until their shop is full of people dropping off their pups. Then go and talk loudly about 'Where is my refund" and 'No, I don't want a free groom... you messed up the one I paid for, why on earth would I want to bring her back here?' Then if she chooses to be rude over giving a refund, she'll most likely loose a lot of customers.:D |

Well this is the final review I've posted everywhere my finger can find tonight. Yelp, Yahoo, Aol...any other suggestions? I also found a working website for the groomers. Oh, and I LOVE it that my post comes up almost right away if I google their name.:D At least I can get some satisfaction out of this. Bow-Wow Boutique > Home Review::thumbdown:thumbdown Princess has been groomed by Laura Kinkema a few times at Bow-Wow Boutique. She's a Yorkshire Terrier, usually in a fairly short coat & unmatted. I have been grooming Princess myself for a while now, since I heard a dog yip at Bow-Wow & I quit going. Well she really needed her nails trimmed & I'd need a 5 point restraint system to do them myself. So I decided to get a full cut as well to start her off fresh for the summer. I am very impulsive & impatient & no one could get me in the same day. So I called Bow-Wow, justifying the dog yipping as it being scared or something. I called at 10:30 she said she could get her in if I came right then as she closed at 12:00. I get there & say specifically "I want it different than you've done it before." I hold Princess & point & say in very clear English: I want her body very short, her legs trimmed but not short like usual. I asked her about growing her ear hair to fan out to the sides. She tells me Princess doesn't have the hair to do that?? So I point to her ears & say I want this off (the sides, like this... ^ "tipped") I say that is all I want off her whole head. leave her beard, topknot area & hair in front of the ears. I want sanitary, belly & nails-that is it!!! I showed Laura herself, not her assisting daughter. 11:45 rolls around & I don't hear so I thought maybe a miscommunication & went to pick her up since they close at noon. It's not a long ride, 5.5 miles round trip. I go in & they're blow drying so they don't hear me enter. I hear a dog yip once, then I'm really listening. Then another yip. Not sure if this is normal at the groomers so I'm not commenting on that. The phone rings & the daughter/assistant comes out & sees me, I tell her I'm there to pick Princess up. She says "oh, she hasn't been done yet"..... "I thought you closed at 12?"..... "we're running behind, she'll be ready around 1:30". If I had any damn sense I would've took Princess & been better off watching her get groomed at Petco! I go back, pay, then she gets Princess. Oh My Gosh!!! Are you freaking kidding me??!? Her ear hair is still there, her ENTIRE beard is gone, it looks like she doesn't have a jaw! They cut those little hairs by her eyes that we JUST got grown out where they didn't poke her eyes. It's choppy, it's ugly! Princess is beautiful to me, always, but what they did is not. Then to top it off Princess does not want to be bothered with me at all! Maybe, I hope, she's just mad that I took her. She's always all over me after 5 min. apart, now NOTHING. Then I noticed she was licking herself a lot, which she never does so I took a look. She actually had a little cut on her lady bits! She had to of cried out when it happened yet it went unnoticed or I just plain wasn't informed. I called the following Monday when they reopened & voiced my concern over the completely wrong haircut. Laura Kinkema was so RUDE! She ARGUED with me about what I asked her to do. She did not think for a second that she deals with many dogs being groomed, while I only deal with one. I know exactly what I said and SHOWED. She would not offer a refund or an apology. Even IF she did no wrong I would think anyone running a reputable business would at least offer an apology for the miscommunication if they couldn't own up to the major screw up. She offered to tip her ears for free & take FIVE DOLLARS off the next groom. Seriously speaking, I wouldn't take ANY dog to her. Aside from doing a TERRIBLE groom she offered nothing but TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. If anyone would like to see before & after pics I'd be glad to provide them. I'd give her ZERO stars except I don't want it to look like I just skipped over that part. Definitely two thumbs/four paws DOWN! |

I'm so sorry to hear about Princess! I would be so angry especially about being cut!! Ughh, honsetly I have never come across a good groomer! Every groomer we have taken Coco to has messed up in some way. She has gotten her quick cut twice and has been razor burned basically. This world needs to get some good groomers:D |
wow... what a bad experience You are right... just let of word of mouth get out there. They will loose a lot of business! |
