Groomer used a furminator on Kiki... Is that ok? I took Kiki to a groomer for her first grooming today. When I picked her up the groomer said that she used a furminator on her to remove her puppy coat. I have never heard of a furminator. I am flipping out :( . Is this normal? |
I have a furminator that I use on our Australian shepherd and our cat. I cannot imagine using one on a yorkie. It is made to strip the shedding hair from the undercoat and yorkies don't have an undercoat. |
I never heard of using it on a yorkie. How does she look? |
I have used them on cats in the past- I don't particularly like them- I just don't understand why someone (especially a groomer!) would use one on a single coated breed. |
Hmmm, I don't know what one is, but would it be uncomfortable to them. Does her skin look ok? |

She looks good. Her coat feels thinner... Ugh! I will never go there again. I hope that groomer didn't ruin her coat |
Someone told me I should use a furminator on my Yorkie. I couldn't even get it through his fur. It's just not made to be used on a non-shedding breed. I don't know why a groomer would even try. The only way to remove a puppy coat is to cut it. |

I wouldn't worry though (other than maybe asking the groomer what the heck she was thinking:rolleyes:), the hair will grow back:) |
