I did it!! You guys gave great instructions. Emee has a thick cotton coat and I can not leave it long anymore. I used the #5F against the hair growth and WOW!! Thank you for tips. Here is the Emee version...pretty close to the Zhoie version.,

OMG!! What a cutie pie. Emee looks adorable and you did a great job!! I swear I love this hairstyle so much. I haven't seen a cutie that it hasn't looked adorable on.

OMgosh....Emee looks gorgeous! You did a fabulous job...her face is perfect, just beautiful. I really love this cut too. It's so much easier with a cotton coat. :thumbup:

I have a question about the legs.. do you scissor cut these? I just cut Taycie's hair in this cut, I need to take pictures but I LOVE it!!!!! I think I might keep her in this cut for awhile, but on the legs how do you trim them?

Your baby looks goregous by the way! A beautiful little sweetheart:)

On Zhoie, I don't cut her leg hair, I just trim around her feet. her leg hair is long.
Bitsy my look do hers different. I'm sure she get back with you soon.

You'll have to show us a picture of sweet Taycie.

Taycie has long leg hair like your Zhoie I love it when she runs its adorable:) I was looking online on how they groom springer spaniels when they leave the leg feathers. I figured... eventually she will need a trim.. so I was curious.

I will take some pics. I am in love with this haircut:) It is one of my favorites!

Thank you......I scissor cut the legs. Emee's hair is sooooo thick that I couldn't get the long silky look. It was looking more like a bush <lol> The scissor directions I followed were from a DVD that I got on grooming a Yorkie. The rest I got from YT members...you guys are great! I plan to touch it up weekly so that I don't have to "restyle". I might try to grow the legs out this winter. With the right conditioner it might work.

Thank you. I too love this cut but was worried to cut off all my baby's hair. She loves it and so do I.

Bitsy, if you want to exxperiment with her legs, you could try growing them out some, then try a long comb on your clippers to see if it will just thin them down some.

Last year (1st summer cut) when I did Zhoie's legs I used a comb on them and then brushed the hair out to the side towards the back legs and cut them up from paw to elbow at an angle. That was really cute too. This is our first time with the leg hair grown out. I'm all about experimenting on Zhoie's hair cuts now (poor girlie). Good thing she's a good sport about it ;) LOL

I tried doing something similar, well I took Sophie in and had the groomer cut it, but they left a "skirt". Well because of the cottony coat she looked like she had a mullet. (argh:eek:) So I decided to cut that down, making a long story short I pretty much butchered her hair. It is now grown into a puppy cut but she just looks messy. Can you trim the body short like that and then use thinning shears or something to keep a skirt from sticking out too far? Her fur is unbelieveable thick. Her legs are pretty long so I have been told she needs a skirt to keep from looking too long legged.:(

Wow, you did a fantastic job!! Did I understand you correctly that you clipped against the hair growth? Did you use a scissors on her face? I clip Macy using a 7F blade but I want to go a little shorter. I don't touch her face, just neck on down and leave her legs long also. What video did you watch?

I love this haircut, and wish everybody who has done it would post pics all in one thread. They are adorable, and of course perky and easy to care for.

If I get what you mean, you want to shave her body but leave a skirt, but the skirt gets to bushy and sticks out the sides. I think I would try putting a long length comb on the trimmer and goes straight all along the shirt and it would probably thin it down. If it's not enough, try a shorter length comb.

Great idea with the longer comb. I understand what you are saying about brushing the hair back toward the back leg and cutting. That is what I did only I cut the hair short. I'm going to grown it out some and try the longer comb next time. The great thing is that the hair grows back quick. And I get to style it again!;)

The first time I tried to trimmed Emee I left a skirt...it didn't look too good. It was too long and bushy. The picture at the beginning of this thread was my 2nd try 2 weeks later. Emee's fur is also unbelieveably thick...especially on her legs. So I cut the hair on the legs short. I also did what Perrella suggested and used a longer comb and went straight down on her sides closer to the belly. I somewhat followed the instructions from the grooming video "How to Groom Your Pet Yorkie at Home" The last cut is the one used part of. I cut the "skirt" short with scissors...like in the video. You have to be carefull though not to get to close to the belly. Also, Emee is on the short side so the short skirt works.

Thank you. Yes, I clipped against the hair growth with a 5F blade. The first time I clipped her (2 weeks before), I used the 5F with the hair growth. The second time I went against the hair growth and got a wonderful smooth cut. Her hair has a bend in it and had a messy look with the first cut. The second one was smooth like velvet. The video I used was "How to Groom Your Pet Yorkie at Home". The last cut was the one I took some tips from.
