What will I need? Some of you know, Dh and I are in ESCROW on our new house!!! Sooooo Dh promised me he is going to get me my own clippers and "area" so I groom Pnut myself!! Dh said maybe we will spend $150 on a good pair..?? Is that enough for a set of good clipers?? Or more? What will I need?? I know clipers and a good pair of sissiors but what else? He is also going to put like a wash tub in the laundry room!! What is a good set up, where I wont have to spend too much money..?? Also what are the good brands? |
I bought an Oster clipper 15 years ago & still use it. I had DH put a plastic (cheap) utility sink in the basement laundryroom, with a faucet with a sprayer hose. It's great because the sink is REALLY deep, so little guys can't jump out! |
sorry.... forgot to say congrats on the new house!!!!:) |
Congrats on the new house :) We are in the process of building ours too, will be closing in July. Such an exciting time!! Anyhow let me know if you need me to order these items for you on wholesale prices :) |
Oster or Andis for clippers, different groomers have their favorite brand for specific reasons. You should be able to purchase the Oster Golden A5, or the equivalent Andis clipper for less than $150. Other items you might want to consider: *grooming table *Hair dryer either w/stand or an arm that attaches to the table that will hold the dryer *extra clipper blades *ear cleaning solution *If you have not groomed before, you might want a grooming DVD. I got one from a member here that currently sells them on ebay. She explains all of the products you will possibly need, and goes through various cuts, step by step. Or, there are grooming videos here in the YT grooming section. Good luck....and congratulations on the new house...how exciting!! |

Intilis & Presto; Thank you |
Intilis & Presto; Thank you jencar98- Thank you, We are very excited for the house, we move in June 7th. I have a regular blow dryer that I use, I use it on him when I bath him, do you think I will need a grooming one? Is there a difference? |
Congratulations on the new house! I love DIY projects. Home Depot is my fav. store :) So exciting to make plans for using space in a new home and creating areas you want and then decorating!!! I wish I had a grooming area instead of the kitchen sink & counter. Kicker is...my house had one when I bought it. The original builder/owners showed poodles and had a 4ft long, raised bath (never seen one that size before) and built in table for grooming in the basement. Unfortunately the basement leaked water horribly, and everything had to be ripped out & concrete cracked up and new drain tile installed. I didn't have a dog at the time, and didn't give it a second thought as I hauled everything out to the curb . |

Below is a grooming arm similar to the one I have, I prefer using it to the stand that came with my dryer. Metro Groomers Third Arm | PetEdge.com |

That is true, my dryer gets super hot, so I put it on low and cool, cold. I never put it up too close either. I remember using one when I worked at the groomers years ago, it kinda looked like a vacum cleaner lol... That one you shared on the link looks really nice. It would be nice to get one that had a stronger blow!! ( haha wheres SugarMomma, she would die if she read that lasr part) |
