dumb question? 2 Attachment(s) Ok this my be a stupid question, but it's bugging me and I don't want to mess Alice's hair up lol. I don't plan on cutting her hair at all yet (except around her "bathroom" areas;)). My "plan" is to keep her in some what of a long coat (we'll see what i can manage to keep neat and clean:rolleyes:) and use a top knot or ponytail. The hair on her face is growing really slowly but I figured I'd better start with whatever topknot I can manage so she gets used to it:) My question is - the hairs that are by the inside corners of her eyes, is that hair supposed to go up in the topknot or lay down along the side of the nose? I figured I'll be able to tell when it gets longer where it "naturaly" seems to want to go, but at the same time, will you "train" the hair to fall a certain way by consistantly grooming it in that direction. LOL am I nuts? Here's 2 close ups of the topknot I just put in (which she's leaving alone so far, yay!) Attachment 342345Attachment 342346 It's those white hairs that make a V that I'm talking about. I know there's discussions on here about whether or not to cut that hair and I'm leaning towards lettting it grow (I'm open to opinions and suggestions too based on her coloring), but it's always in her eyes right now so just wondering what to do with it. I used Pet Silk top knot gel for the first time today to help controle it, but it's still managing to stay right in front of her eyes. |
I cut those hairs on my babies. I just pull up the hair above the eyes. |
3 Attachment(s) I haven't touched the hair on Rizzo's face in a while, except for brushing and tk-ing of course. Those hairs seem to naturally fall around his muzzle so I don't force them to go up. When I do they "migrate" back down during his "face rub on floors" moments. Let's see if I have a pic.. Okay, pic's attached. Some of them are before he goes on face rubbing rampage, but I think whatever works for your pup. Seems like it's better when it starts off not in the tk, when it isn't he doesn't try as hard to get the tk out. |

I would let the white pieces fall down by her muzzle rather than pull them up with the topknot :) As her hair grows in, it will probably become more obvious where the "divide" is, but there can be some "training" of the hair involved to get it to lay down flat. Once this happens if you accidentally pull one of these pieces into a topknot, it will be so uncooperative you'll realize your mistake pretty quickly in my experience! :p |
Don't cut them! Trust me...if you think they are in her eyes badly now, it will be worse after you cut! If you haven't done it yet, don't start! It takes time, but they will get there. Once they are long enough, it will start to fall more naturally. I'm also dealing with the crazy hairs poking out (due to a bad groomer! Same old story you always hear on here...) But, its slowly getting better. |
