Once you cut eye hair you never go back?
 
When I first got Layla the hair around her eyes was already chopped off. I read here that once you cut it you need to leep cutting it. Call me stubborn but im letting it grow out anyway. My question is why would it never be the same and is there hope or am I wasting my time? :( Any tips? I really don't like the look of it cut.

I have kept Sophia's cut for a while now. I regret cutting it though and am in the process of letting her hair grow long again.

She looks a bit shaggy, but there is not much that can be done about. Just have to be patient and wait for it to grow out so I can pull it into a top knot for her.

I'm going thru the same shaggy thing with Tiki. Have kept enough to topnot on top/pony on top, but had cut bangs over her eyes. The bangs are always too long or sticking up, so now we are growing them out. Looks aweful, but hopefully soon they can reach the rubberband.

When people say this, they mean that once you cut it, it grows, and you need to cut it again. However, but if you let it grow past the point of poking them in the eyes, you no longer need to cut it ever during your grooming sections. It will look the same as if you had never cut it, you don't damage it by cutting it, and you are just setting yourself up for monthly upkeep.

I was the original poster in the link provided and wanted to show it is possible to let the eye hair grow back once it has been cut. Jesse was two when I got him 7.5 months ago and the previous owner had his hair cut very short! The other pic is of Jesse taken yesterday, He looks like a totally different yorkie. Jesse's hair grows fast so I got through the awkward stage with him fairly quickly.:)

OMGosh...Jesse is gorgeous!! He doesn't look like the same dog at all with his beautiful long hair.

Darlene I can't believe it has been 7.5 mths since you got Jessie. It seems like yesterday.

You do a great job on your dog's coats. Jessie looks so much better with his beautiful long hair. Have you shared this pic with his breeder? I'm sure she'd love to see what a beautiful job you've done with her breeding.
