Dark Hair, Light Hair question Apple & Buzz' hair, grows in dark, then turns light? They don't spend that much time in the sun, so why doesn't it stay dark? Apple's turn's the reddish/blonde, and Buzz' turns silver...Why is that? |
I wonder also I have that same question. My daughters pupster is pale golden & silver but her hair is growing in steel grey underneath. She is at least 3 yo, not sure as she is a rescue. Very odd how that works. |

Tibbe's hair bleaches out, too. He's got dark roots on his body but he's turning silver, light silver. He's got a somewhat cottony coat and I thought that somehow caused the hair to sort of bleach out. If I cut him short on the body, his hair is dark but as it grows out, the ends get lighter and lighter. I accused him of using my L'Oreal but he just gave me a look and left the room. |

LOL! Yea, he watches TV alot and sees all those guys with colored hair so I wouldn't put it past him. He is probably stylin' fly or whatever they say If he walks in one day with a tatoo and a nose ring, he and I are going to have a talk. Hmmmm.....well, if it's not his coat texture then I have no idea. More input is definitely needed. |

If Buzz walks in w/a nose ring, he is soooooooooo grounded! |
Same way with Piccolo and her dark roots that turn to silver. I know I am prejudice, but I think her silver is beautiful, even if it is not standard. :) |

Here! Here! Let's hear it for the silver blondes! It is pretty to this momma. AKC would soooo bust me for saying that but I'm no breeder and Tibbe is neutered so I guess I'm safe. |
found this info on yorkie colors: As a Yorkshire terrier transitions from a puppy to an adult, the coat changes color, and the tan increases and gets richer with age. As an adult, there are 4 categories of accepted colors for Yorkies. These are the only coloring choices available on the AKC application form for a Yorkie. These colorings are: black and tan, black and gold, blue and gold, and blue and tan. But of course we see lots of variety in colors. It all depends on genetics and breeding. Yorkies don't attain their true coloring until the age of about 2 years old (3 in some cases). |
Good info. Does it seem to any of you that at Westminster the Yorkies' body color isn't as blue as it used to be years back or is it maybe just the lights reflecting or even LED LCD TV screens and all these color/hue/shade adjustments causing it? |
