Putting in a top knot I'm trying to figure out if there's a better way to put in a top knot. I've been just wrapping it around like a pony tail. Does anyone use the insertion tool? And do you insert it like the videos on the web where you twist their hair to slip it in there. Does the twisting not cause breakage in the hair? I would love to see a video of doing a Yorkie topknot rather than a small strand of ear hair like on a poodle. I've tried and just can't seem to get the hang of it. I must be doing something wrong. My Yorkie handles it great -- its me that's being the problem! :D |
i don't know what video's you are referring to (or what ear hair strand your talking about on a poodle top knot) but when I do a yorkie top knot i use a rat tail comb to separate and part the hair to make it neat. |
I think maybe she's talking about youtube videos with this demonstration. When I did a search in the past, I noticed several videos showing the groomer taking small strands of hair on the ears and placing the bow with a hemostat. |
The hemostat method may be helpful when placing the show bow, but for making the actual topknot, I believe wrapping the band like you would on your own hair would be easier and more precise. Seems like it would be difficult to comb and part the hair, hold it, then get it perfectly into a little band with a hemostat. Maybe it is a matter of preference. |
Thanks. Yes, it was the youtube videos. I was just hoping I hadn't been doing it wrong all these years or that maybe there was a better way I just didn't know about. Always looking to learn a little bit... |
