PEK IV San Bernard conditioner Hi all! I just got my very heavy box from IV San Bernard. I am really excited to bathe Bella and see how she comes out. I have heard people saying they MIX the pek conditioner with water?? How much water to conditioner?? Also how long to let it soak in her coat before rinsing?? I also got the mink oil, and it says to mix with shampoo, but doesn't say how much to mix. Anyone use these two products and have a good idea for me? |
I can't remember how much I mix to make my spray....I have the ratio written down at home and I'm at work darn it. And I've never tried the mink oil, so I can't help you on that either. :p But, if you're using the PEK as a straight conditioner after shampooing (which I do) you need to leave it on for at least 5 minutes - preferrably 10. The longer you can leave it on the better your results will be. Can't wait to hear what you think. :D Bonny |
5-10 minutes? How do you keep your dog comfortable while waiting? I give baths about once a week...and try to go as fast as I can. I am wanting to get the Pek, so I too am interested in how to use it. |
Thanks Bonny!! Yea Bella won't be too excited to sit wet for 10 minutes, but I THINK what I will do is PRETEND we are all done with the bath part, and sit in her towel for the 10 minutes, and then just rinse off. I am so excited to try this out! I got the BIG jug so I better like it. LOL |

That's what I was thinking too...sit in a wrapped towel. I'm going to order the big jug too I think. Let me know how it works! |
1 Attachment(s) All I can't say is....I can't believe I haven't been using this product PEK conditioner the whole time....I love love love it...it was so easy to brush her out, like going thru butter. I will never be without it again. I took a tablespoon full and mixed in about 1/2 cup of hot water...made a thick paste...rub it all thru her hair and let it sit for 5 minutes than I rinsed her leaving some in and I blowed dried her...love it :D and I also made a spray bottle full a lot thinner to use when I brush her out daily...again love it  This is my Bella after her bath, look how shinny she is :D and its been 5 days now and she is still just as shinny and solf :p |
I didn't know there was any special formula for mixing with water? I just took a tablespoon and put it in the spray bottle, a couple of squirts of mink oil and shake it up before using. I would not give a bath without it. I have tried more than 15 different products and this beats them all! I have 3 different breeds and it works well for all. |

I just can't wait.......we are off for bath time!!!!!!!! :D Be back when its all said and done!! |
Well I must say......it is very very good!!! Bella looks fantastic, and was pretty easy to comb out. (I hadn't done a thorough, comb through in a couple of weeks, and the matts weren't hard to get out at all.) Bella is a bit PO'd at me right now however.....we on top of the long bath, TRIED to clean the eye goop. (PSYCHO DOG, OMG, another story all together) PLUS we used the blow drier, which she hates, hopefully she will forgive me by tomorrow. :D |
I just knew you'd love it! |
I keep hearing such good things about this product- but am so concerned about spending $75 just to find out- ugh! I might just have to take the leap some time! |

I am still wanting to try this too..but I also have been having a hard time justifying the $75, as well. For me its easy to get Chris christensen, vellus, pet silk, etc. There is a distributor 10 min away..oh someday... |
I'm going to place an order...what will $75 get me? Did you just send an email? |

You have to create an account, with a user name and password. They will then approve you to shop at their store. As far as what will 75 get you? It depends on what you order. You won't get prices until you set up an account and they approve you. |
The medium container of PEK is about $31-34. I would also order their purifying shampoo (to be used every 5-6 bathes) and one other shampoo formulated for yorkies, like the green apple to be used with weekly bathes. Those 3 items should be close to $75. I also like the SIL Plus and use it on Reno's long coat. |
I'm new in this site, and I found it wonderful! I'm italian ( sorry my american is so poor! ) and I'm the mom of three girls with very long hair but different. I use ISB Pek conditioner, Mink oil and Gloss. I've had the same problem so I called ISB and the day after they email to me with their suggestions: Mineral H shampoo ( to prevent hair break ) , Green Apple conditioner, Pek conditioner, Mink oil. Wet well the coat, put 6 drops of Mink oil into shampoo ( ISB shampoo diluition is 1:5, but now I use Recostructing shampoo and Moisturizing conditioner by Pure Paws and their diluition is 1:8 ) wash and rinse, then mix 2/3 Green conditioner and 1/3 Pek conditioner ( I use Pure Paws condioner so I diluite 1:8 ) leave in the coat some minutes, 4-5, rinse well and dry. You can also use Pek conditioner pure and work into matts before the bath, or mix Pek with water in a spray bottle and use as anti-static. Mink oil and Pek work very well on my three girls their coat are so soft and bright and I will try also Freeze It for hair flying from top knot. Somebody can help me? How to use Blow Dry Cream Plush Puppy and Top Knot Gel by Pet Silk? Meggy:) |
Meggy, I thought your "american" was just great! I use the Pet Silk Top Knot Gel just about every day on my Cali. I just touch my finger lightly on the gel and lightly stoke it on the area of the top knot (in my case usually above the eyes) that I want to control. Only takes a tiny amount. I have only been using it for about 3 months, but use it regularly. |
Re Oooh many thanks Yorkiemini :) This is exactly what I wanted to know! I can use it about every day to control some " flay away " hair above eyes, I need it just for this purpose, to prevent breakage, split ends and to promote hair growth on top knot I use another product but it does not control "flay away" hair. :) |
Top Knot You are very welcome. What do you use to promote the hair growth? |
Re My breeder / exibithor suggested me to use " fleak seed " serum ( I'm not sure it is the correct term perhaps is more correct " linseed oil " ) so I try to explain it is a human haircare product so DO NOT put it in dog's food ! At this time I use a similar product " Caviar anti-aging polishing serum " by Alterna ( it is an USA brand ). Alterna Professional Haircare – Natural Luxury, Down To A Science Do not expect a miracle but it helps hair growth. Every day I put a small amount, 1 -2 drops, in my hands rubs hands together and apply on topknot hair, lengths and tips, at first hair looks a bit greasy but after 20 min or so the product is completly assorbed, so is not necessary to wrap. Hair becomes very very silky and shiny. Oh! after bathed and toweled dogs' coats I apply a small amount, few drops, with my hands in damp coats then I blow dry. I use the same product and the same procedure when I wash my hair .. and I assure you my hair is impalpable like silk! :) |
Thanks. I know about that brand of hair care and it is good. I'll try it. Appreciate your response. |
I forgot I read somewhere that someone use Mega Tek by Eqyss, I do not know in wich way, I never tried it. I would like to try Royal Coatalin but I can't find it, I think it is discontinued. |
Is the PEK good for a cotton coat?? I think there is another thread but it's VERY long, I should check it out....if it's for a cotton coat, I NEED--my Reesie has the most COTTONY BIEWER coat ever!!! :) Viv |

Your baby can't be any more cotton than my Yorkie. LOL. I was sent a sample of the Pek and I love it. His coat is like silk. Very few tangles... not even mats, just tangles. I spray him with a mix of it when I brush him. You will be amazed. |
