Best (not too expensive) grooming sheers? I am a do it yourself at home groomer on my two babies. I just purchased an Oster Golden Double Speed A5 clipper and my next purchase will be a pair of sheers. I am looking for a cheap but quality pair that ranges from $15-$25. I will be using these on the face and legs. I realize this is a fairly cheap price but right now I have been using a $10 pair from a Sally's beauty supply, and have found them to work out okay. Ive heard that I should buy a pair of pet sheers instead of using scissors for human hair because there is a difference. Is this true? I figured that if I am shelling out the money for a pair of nice clippers, I might as well go the whole way and get a new pair of scissors. Does anyone have any recommendations on what brand, size, or where I might find a pair like these? Any info or advise would be great thanks! |
Really!? No one has ANY recommendations, but layla's greasy nasty hair gets like 12 responses??? |
I use Chris Christensen shears, but I am exhibiting my boy. They are pricey. Prior to showing, I use ICE tempered shears that I got thru petedge. They are pretty good shears and I still use them for my pet yorkies. |
I think people shears are fine for yorkies who have hair instead of fur like many dogs. No undercoat, just a single layer of hair more like our own. So, why the same shears would not work, I do not know. |

As for a cheaper price on whatever sheers you decide to buy, dont forget to check ebay. You may find a good deal there. |
These are great quality shears @ a really good price, they have straight style too: Fromm Premier III Series Curved Ball Point Shears 6 1/2" | PetEdge.com It's perfect for trimming around the paws, face, legs & just about anywhere there's a natural curve.
