Urine in the Males Hair I was wondering what some of you do to keep the urine out of your males hair without completely clipping them down? I have 3 boys and only have trouble with one peeing on his hair when he hikes his leg. I hate to cut his long hair off. I have shaved his underside but he still gets it on the sides. |
Leaving the hair long on the penis helps direct it downward. I have also banded the hair up with scrunchies at the waist....like a pony tail. Other than those two...belly bands. |
Max hikes his leg when we walk, which is twice a day during good weather. After each walk, I use a washcloth to rinse the part of the coat that he hits. I bathe his body at least every 5-7 days. Inside, Max uses a piddle pad on a mat that is placed far enough away from the wall to discourage leg lifting. You could try "The Stuff" to protect the hair from urine stains. Otherwise, I imagine the only options are to wrap or cut. :( |
Hes a marker and they have a doggie door that they go in and out of the house all day long, everytime they think they hear or see a bird, squirrel or rabbit in the yard they have to go chase. I will try banding it up and see if that helps. Thanks |

I have the same problem with my female. She has a long coat, and when she goes, it gets on the inside of her legs and makes her smell like urine. I've tried clipping a little bit on the inside of her legs, but don't want to cut off her long hair. I will try the washcloth. I also bathe her once a week. |
There are a couple of options. Once is putting the side hair up in crunchies.......but, that can be cumbersome. There is another product I use; Chris Christenson Show Off - Self Rinse. I use this every morning on the boys I don't have in wraps. |
